Research into other Mscape Games • We looked into other locative media games to understand more about how they work and how successful they have been in the past. • Whack a Mole locative game – out in open space park and you stamp the ground when you see a mole was a very popular game. • No game out there that will help undergraduates students to find their way around the campus in a form of a game that will make it appealing.

How the game was developed in the Mscape Application Ø Programming Language used: Actionscript Ø The game will be using “Hotspots” which acts as a button for the player to go to the next image on their GPS enabled mobile device

Why we built the game like this • Our target audience was undergraduates, first

Why we built the game like this • Our target audience was undergraduates, first year students. • We aim to help them build friendship with fellow students, make them feel at home and get to know the campus better. • Mscape is easily editable • Sponsors will have no problem if they wanted to edit image, map, audio etc as it could be replaced within seconds. • We aim to get a high enough adoption rate by making the game competitive and also put on any popular social networking website.

Testing • We tested the prototype on the students at Knight Park Campus. •

Testing • We tested the prototype on the students at Knight Park Campus. • Students could see how this game would be competitive, useful and a chance to make friends with fellow students. • Students did feel signal kept cutting out around tall buildings and audio could be added as it was hard to see the images in the sunlight. • Overall, very positive feedback and with a sponsorship we could incorporate more improvements to not only make it successful at Kingston University but popular with other univerisities.

Future Improvements • Scores for each player that can be uploaded on social networking

Future Improvements • Scores for each player that can be uploaded on social networking website. • Re-create your own character instead of having the standard character on screen. • Enhance the map from 2 D to 3 D to make it more of an experience for the player. • Incorporate audio into the game to make it more interactive. • Add more items, more campuses and more ranks to the game to make it more challenging. • Have the Mscape app on all mobile phones so it can be used by a wider audience.
