Lesson 11 Cross-sectional views are necessary whenever internal features are needed to be shown

Lesson 11 Cross-sectional views are necessary whenever internal features are needed to be shown with more clarity than may be available using regular projections or hidden lines. The cutting plane usually is needed to be shown. Except if the cutting takes place on a symmetry axis. Then it may be omitted. The cut area should be cross-hatched (or section lined). The cutting plane and the cross-hatching are always thin lines. Ribs, webs, gear teeth, and other similar flat features are not sectioned (to avoid false impressions). Hardware components (e. g. nuts, screws, washers) are not sectioned either. Technical drawing in Photonics
