Digital Innovation & Digital Presence Strategy Ian Leslie www. uis. cam. ac. uk
Digital Presence Strategy Our digital presence fails because: The Collegiate University has never had a digital presence strategy. It is at risk of failing to adapt to the transformative power of digital technologies. We have thousands of websites which are complex, and expensive to manage, maintain and improve. Site structures too often mimic University structures rather than the needs of information and user needs. We are not compliant with accessibility legislation. www. uis. cam. ac. uk
Digital Presence Strategy We need to: Commit to user needs Establish effective governance Develop internal skills and capability Right tool, right place, right time Each fact, one definitive source Adopt a collaborative development model www. uis. cam. ac. uk
Digital Presence Strategy So far: Strategy presented and well received at ISC in October Implementation plan to ISC in November Cambridge Zero website a learning step. Moving on to main University site. www. uis. cam. ac. uk
www. uis. cam. ac. uk
Digital Transformation Strategy Identified as key high level risk for the University Not just about digitising our processes, but rather about transforming them UIS can be major contributor on generics: infrastructure, business processes. Lessons will come from everywhere. UIS can only be enabler on education and on research. Lessons will come from competitor higher education institutions and from the academic community. Impediments: technical debt, fragmentation, lack of head room, absorptive capacity, silos First draft to ISC in October, full version in November www. uis. cam. ac. uk
