Tiered Licensing • Tier 1 – It’s a one year license, designed for community experts. • Tier 2 – For those who may not have passed the content/pedagogy tests, but have a degree. You MUST have a job offer to apply. (**C-19 this is still true**) • Tier 3 – Those applying for their initial license AND have passed their tests. • Tier 4 – This is if you already have a license and are adding an endorsement and have at least three years of experience. * Must have passed your basic skills tests too!

Stuff to know: ∙ Initial License – $90. 25 + Fingerprint card ∙ Existing License (includes sub license) – $57. 00 + no FP card ∙ Fingerprint Card – Sky blue border. Get one from me or PELSB ∙ Email – Use your personal email – not your CSP email ∙ Transcripts – I will order your official CSP transcript and any previous transcripts. ∙ Call/email me – Seriously… It’s okay… *cmoran@csp. edu

What if I have not had my fingerprints taken? What if I did not take my content and/or pedagogy tests?

You will wait……. I wish I had a better answer, but as of now PELSB is accepting only complete applications. In the meantime… You may send in your application to me. I will gather transcripts, etc. and keep it in your file. That way, you will be ready when things do open up.

Licensing process: ∙ Degree is awarded – about two weeks after graduation ∙ Application received – assuming tests and fingerprints are complete and app is filled out correctly, I process in 2 -4 days. (**C-19 I will hold your completed app if not complete) ∙ Packet is sent to PELSB via UPS – I will email you with a tracking #. ∙ PELSB receives your packet – They transfer your fingerprint card to the BCA (Bureau of Criminal Apprehension). BCA has no time limit. Timing is dependent on workload. . PELSB, by statute, has 30 days to issue your license once they get it back. They will send an email when your license is awarded. (**C-19 There is no time limit. They have limited staff. )

A few more things: ∙ PELSB does not expedite. What can help… - Check your degree audit for completion. - Write out check to: PELSB - Fill in all areas of application. - Email me before you send your app. That way I will have your transcript waiting for you. Assuming you have a complete app. ∙ How to check up? - Go to MN license lookup ∙ PELSB will notify you by email when your license has been awarded.

Tier 2 – If you have a job offer and have not taken your tests yet. This is good for one year. During that year, you will take your tests, pass and apply for a Tier 3.
