EVOLUTION OF MAN • Meaning of Evolution Human Evolution refers to the slow process of change. Human evolved over a period of about 6 million years ago. The origin of man can be discussed by using two (2) main theories. i. e Theory of Creation and Theory of Evolution The discussion is based on when and how man came into existence
Theories of Human evolution a) Creation Theory According to this theory man was made by God. In this theory, God created the whole universe includes all plants, animals and non-living things God created the first people. Those people reproduced and dispersed to all parts
b) Evolution Theory • Evolution is the gradual development of plants and animals from a simple form to more complex form. • Theory of Evolution tries to explain the origin of man by describing changes that our ancestors underwent until they were like modern man

STAGES OF MANS EVOLUTION 1. Primates : The first creatures from which the modern man evolved. Eg Gorilla, Monkeys, Chimpanzee and Apes 2. Australopithecus: Are ‘southern ape man’. Are the first bipedal creatures. Australopithecus were divided in different names i. e Anamensis, Afarensis, Africanus, Robustus and Boisei (Zinjanthropus) 3.
