TEACHER INFORMATION 1. Divide students into small teams. One person on each team will be the score keeper, and one will be the runner. The runner takes the team’s answers to the teacher. 2. You will need a large container/trash can and a small ball or bean bag. Set up the can and then tape off 3 lines at varying distances that the students will stand at to toss the ball/bean bag. 3. Students will see one round of problems at a time. After each round, the students shoot and tally their score. 4. The winning team can be awarded a prize if desired.

RULES FOR THE GAME 1. With your group members, solve each problem. 2. Send the designated person to the teacher to get the answers checked. 3. If you have something incorrect, go back to your team and fix it. Return to the teacher with your corrections. 4. The first team with all the problems in the round correct will get three shots. The second team will get two shots, and the third team will get one shot. 5. There will be three shooting lines: closest line = 1 point, second line = 2 points, farthest line = 3 points. 6. The team with the most points by the end of all rounds wins the game.

ROUND ONE: FIND THE VOLUME OF EACH SOLID FIGURE MADE OF 1 -INCH CUBES.

ROUND ONE: FIND THE VOLUME OF EACH SOLID FIGURE MADE OF 1 -INCH CUBES. 1. 2. 4. 3.

ROUND ONE: ANSWER KEY FIND THE VOLUME OF EACH SOLID FIGURE MADE OF 1

ROUND ONE: ANSWER KEY FIND THE VOLUME OF EACH SOLID FIGURE MADE OF 1 -INCH CUBES. 1. 6 inches cubed 4. 2. 6 inches cubed 15 inches cubed 3. 6 inches cubed

ROUND TWO: FIND THE VOLUME BY PARTITIONING THE RECTANGULAR PRISM 3 DIFFERENT WAYS

ROUND TWO: FIND THE VOLUME BY PARTITIONING THE RECTANGULAR PRISM 3 DIFFERENT WAYS

ROUND TWO: ANSWER KEY FIND THE VOLUME BY PARTITIONING THE RECTANGULAR PRISM 3 DIFFERENT

ROUND TWO: ANSWER KEY FIND THE VOLUME BY PARTITIONING THE RECTANGULAR PRISM 3 DIFFERENT WAYS 3. I partitioned the rectangular prism vertically and horizontally. The base is 3 x 6 = 18. There are 4 slices, so I added 18 four times (or I could multiply 18 x 4). The volume is 72 feet cubed. 1. I partitioned the rectangular prism horizontally like layers of a cake. The base is 6 x 4 = 24. There are three layers, so I added 24 three times (or I could multiply 24 by 3). The volume is 72 feet cubed. 2. I partitioned the rectangular prism vertically like slices of bread. The base is 4 x 3= 12. There are six slices, so I added 12 six times (or I could multiply 12 by 6). The volume is 72 feet cubed.

ROUND THREE: IF THE FIGURE BELOW IS MADE WITH 3 CMSIDE LENGTH CUBES, WHAT

ROUND THREE: IF THE FIGURE BELOW IS MADE WITH 3 CMSIDE LENGTH CUBES, WHAT IS THE VOLUME OF THE FIGURE?

ROUND THREE: ANSWER KEY IF THE FIGURE BELOW IS MADE WITH 3 CM SIDE

ROUND THREE: ANSWER KEY IF THE FIGURE BELOW IS MADE WITH 3 CM SIDE LENGTHS, WHAT IS THE VOLUME? 9 cm x 9 cm = 729 cubic centimeters 3 x 3=9

ROUND FOUR: FIND THE HEIGHT OF THE RECTANGULAR PRISM BELOW The volume of this

ROUND FOUR: FIND THE HEIGHT OF THE RECTANGULAR PRISM BELOW The volume of this rectangular prism is 350 feet cubed. If the area of the base is 70 feet squared, find its height.

ROUND FOUR: ANSWER KEY FIND THE HEIGHT OF THE RECTANGULAR PRISM BELOW 70 70

ROUND FOUR: ANSWER KEY FIND THE HEIGHT OF THE RECTANGULAR PRISM BELOW 70 70 70 350 ÷ 70 = 5 The height is 5 feet.
