Teacher Incentive Allotment • The Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) was created by the Texas

Teacher Incentive Allotment • The Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) was created by the Texas Legislature as part of House Bill 3 ○ Provide a realistic pathway for top teachers to earn six-figure salaries ○ Attract and retain highly effective teachers at traditionally hard-to-staff schools • Districts have the option to locally develop or identify a system for designating high-performing teachers as Recognized, Exemplary, or Master • Designations are added to a teacher’s SBEC certificate and are valid for five years

Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) Districts, if they choose to, can develop a local designation

Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA) Districts, if they choose to, can develop a local designation system and designate highperforming teachers (Master, Exemplary, or Recognized). Districts will receive additional funding ($3 -32 K per year) for every designated teacher they employ. Districts will receive greater funding for designated teachers who work on rural and/or highneeds campuses. 90% At least 90% of TIA funds must be used on teacher compensation on the campus where the designated teacher works. TEA in partnership with Texas Tech University will approve the local designation systems. 4
