TB 8100 BASE STATION Asynchronous Port Switch (APS) 2
Asynchronous Port Switch • Provides remote multi-channel Alarm Centre and Service Kit access over ONE Public Switched Telephone Line (PSTN). • Extremely cost effective site management system when using multiple TB 8100 s. • Multi-sourced third party APS units are integrated into Service kit and Alarm centre platforms. • APS units either supplied by Tait or directly sourced. • AC or 12 V DC • Options available: – 8 port : Supports up to 8 Base Station channels + 1 modem + 1 ethernet. – 16 port : Supports up to 15 Base Station channels + 1 modem + 1 ethernet. – 32 port : Supports up to 31 Base Station channels + 1 modem + 1 ethernet 3
Asynchronous Port Switch • APS units support only one call at a time. • If the PSTN line is busy (at the site or the alarm centre) retry timers and counters ensure the alarm notification is still processed successful. • Can also plug on site service kit into a spare APS port and access any base station locally. • APS have two operational modes: – Command mode (for call set up). – Transparent mode (actual serial data transfer). ‘Escape’ characters are used to switch between the two modes.
