FILM STUDIO • A film studio can also be known as a movie studio or just a studio. Film studio is a major entertainment company which has its own privately owned studio facility in some cases facilities that are used to make films. Independently owned studio facilities, that have never produced a motion picture of its own. This is because they are not motion pictures or entertainment companies.
WHO OWNS IT • Disney also known as The Walt Disney Company is an American based multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate. It is headquartered at the Walt Disney Studios in Burbank, California. The Walt Disney Studio is the worlds second largest media conglomerate when it comes to revenue, Comcast being the first. Disney was founded in October 16, 1923 by the Walt Disney brothers Walt and Roy O.
DISNEY FILMS Walt Disney films mainly produce animated films, which are produced by Pixar and Walt Disney Animation Studio are released by Walt Disney Pictures. • Examples: • Mary Poppins (1964) • Beauty and the Beast (1991) • Up(2009) • Toy Story 3 (2010) • These 4 films have received an Academy Award for Best Picture nomination. Four films produced by Walt Disney Pictures has grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. • Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006) • Alice in Wonderland (2010) • Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides (2011) • Beauty and the Beast(2017)

COMPETITION • Disney being one of the biggest film companies, means it has a number of competitors for example, Viacom, 21 st Century Fox, Sony, Time Warner, CBS and Comcast. These are the main competition for Disney, they compete with Disney’s products this is mainly done through TV, cable and other media markets like DVD/Blue-ray, video games and the internet. The competitive pressure has been increased due to the growth of multichannel video programming network distributors and cable networks.
PRESENT IN The Walt Disney company presents in hundreds of countries all around the world, here’s a few examples: South Africa Australia Hong Kong And more, however it is not completely global China
WHERE DOES THE MONEY COME FROM • Interactive-$1, 299, 000 - this includes Disney online games and entertainment. • Consumer Products-$3, 985, 000 - Disney’s merchandising subsidiary is responsible for textiles, apparel and luxury goods. • Studio Entertainment-$7, 278, 000 -this includes all films released by Walt Disney Animation, Lucasfilm, Touchstone Pictures, Dream. INDEPENDENT FILM COMPANY • An independent film company produces films, outside of the major fil, studio system. They are produced and distributed by independent entertainment companies, these films are can sometimes be distinguishable by their content and style. Usually they are made with a lower budget than major studio movies.
PATCHWORK PRODUCTION • Patchwork Production is based in the UK it is a independent film production company. Their aim is to produce films that have a strong story that will attract the main audiences by working with established and new talent. • Patchwork Production being in association with Bright Cold Day Films and Bandoola Productions, released an award winning debut thriller ‘containment in the UK, this was represented by US sales agents Vision Films, this all took place in September 2015.
WHO OWNS IT Patchwork Production was founded in 2004 and is now owned by Christine Hartland has over 15 years of experience when it comes to corporate films and event productions. Her corporate clients include many well known brands for example , BT, Barclays, Nokia and more. She produced her first film in 2008 , which was the political thriller WMD BY David Holroyd and was represented by Independent Film Company. WMD was one of the first British films to follow a reverse distribution strategy

WHAT OTHER COUNTRIES REPRESENTED IN • Patchwork Production is seen to have the largest viewing in the United Sates and United Kingdom. • Even though, Patchwork Production is based in the UK , their films is distributed online meaning it can be accessed from all around the globe.
MONEY • Patchwork Production get there money from investors and sponsors. Even though they are independent, some of their films have been included with the studio they were working with. They however reply on financial funds from their investors. • Gaining funds from Creative Europe Development funding and BFI network allowed they to make two short films, money is also gained from viewer who buys their film, this goes to funding their production
