Taronga Zoo Meerkats Slender-tailed Meerkats are small, active animals belonging to the mongoose family.

Taronga Zoo Meerkats Slender-tailed Meerkats are small, active animals belonging to the mongoose family. They have a long body and short legs, standing around 30 cm tall. The coat is greyish brown to light grey with dark bands across the body and dark eyes and nose. The dark patches around their eyes lessen the desert glare similar to sunglasses and their ears can close in the event of a sand storm. The Meerkat’s long foreclaws are especially adapted to scratching and digging while its pointed snout enables it to reach into small crevices.

possums • Prime Possum and the Saturday Club visited Taronga Western Plains Zoo this week to film segments for an upcoming show. Prime Possum was out and about in the Zoo meeting many of its rare and endangered species including Black Rhino Bakhita and her six month old calf Kufara as well as the Zoo's African Elephants Cuddles and Yum. • Prime Possum came face to face with all creatures’ great and small from the inquisitive Meerkats to the ferocious African Lion that was looking at him and thinking about lunch. • Be sure to check out all of Prime Possum’s adventures at Taronga Western Plains Zoo on the Saturday Club.
