What do they eat? They eat Smaller tarantulas, cicadas, crickets, grasshoppers, sow bugs, caterpillars and beetles. They also sometimes eat other varieties of spiders. Some examples of larger tarantula prey include lizards, snakes, bats, toads, frogs and rodents such as pinky rats and mice.
Where do they live? Tarantulas are found in the rainforests and jungles of South and Central America, in Africa and in the southern part of North America. Many Tarantulas live in burrows underground. They will either use their fangs to dig them or else take someone else's burrow-home.
How big do the get. Tarantulas' size and coloring can vary wildly depending on location and species. From front right leg to rear left leg, tarantulas range from 4. 5 to 11 inches (11. 4 to 28 centimeters) in length. They weigh from 1 to 3 ounces (28. 3 to 85 grams) and have strong jaws and fangs.
How dangerous are they? Through all tarantulas are very dangerous. If a person gets bitten by a tarantula, the bite will probably feel a lot like a bee sting. Because the tarantula's venom (poison) is weak, it's unusual to have more severe reactions involving other parts of the body. Some tarantulas bits are more harmful then others.
Do tarantulas hibernate? Tarantulas do not hibernate, but they do experience torpor, which is a state of lethargy. Torpor is a short-term body temperature reduction on cool days that allows the spiders to leave their nest to hunt on temperate days
