TAPCo Disciplinary Code and Rules Learning Objectives: SWBAT explain TAPCo’s disciplinary code. SWBAT explain how TAPCo’s students are expected to behave throughout the year.
As TAPCo community members, we: • support our school Community members just as they support us; • focus on our Academic and Artistic work; • take Responsibility for our choices and actions through respect for others, our environment, and ourselves, and; • celebrate and communicate our community’s accomplishments of Excellence. TAPCo is a school where everyone takes CARE of themselves and each other.
The Basics • Be respectful of school and other peoples’ property. • Keeping our school clean is everyone’s responsibility- littering, food and trash left on lunch tables will not be tolerated. • Move quickly and quietly from class to class. Enter the room quietly, take your assigned seat, and begin work. • Come prepared to work every day with agenda book, binder, pencil, paper, assignments, homework and any other items specified by your teachers.
• Students are not permitted to leave TAPCo once they are inside the building. • Students are not permitted to use the elevator unless accompanied by an adult or who have a pass from the main office indicating a medical excuse.
ID Cards • Have your TAPCo Identification Card with you at all times and be prepared to show it to any adult staff member. • Students will be required to swipe their card each morning. • A student that loses their ID card will be required to pay $3. 00 for a replacement.
Leaving the Classroom • All students who are traveling in the hallway during a class period are required to have their agenda passport with a staff member’s signature. This will be their pass. • Student must present their agenda book to any TAPCo staff member who asks to see it. • Students in the hallway during class without their agenda books signed by a staff member are considered cutting. • Restrooms will be locked the first and last 10 minutes of each class period. • Students are permitted to leave class twice daily to use the restroom, one time in the morning and one time in the afternoon
Lateness • Students who are late must report to the Dean’s Office for a pass to class. • Anytime you are late, you get a call home. • After 3 latenesses, a student will receive a 1 hour detention from 3: 30 -4: 30 p. m. • After five latenesses, a student will receive a 2 hour detention from 3: 30 -5: 30 p. m.
Lunchroom Procedures • Students should only be in the cafeteria during their assigned lunch period. • Running, yelling, or throwing food is not permitted. • Students should be seated while eating. • Students are not allowed to take or eat food anywhere outside the cafeteria. • If a student is caught throwing food in the cafeteria that student will be suspended.
Prohibited Items • Beads, hats (all head gear) shall not be worn in class. • Eat and drink only in the cafeteria. • Cell phones, i. Pods & Gameboys should never be seen, taken out or used in class. If seen, they will be confiscated.
Dress Code • Students must come to school wearing appropriate clothing. • Mini skirts, pants or skirts hanging below the waist, low-cut tops, exposed midriffs, tank tops and t-shirts with obscene slogans are not allowed.
Think-Pair-Share • You will be asked a question. • Take two minutes to think about the answer the question. • Then, three minutes to share your answer to the question with person closest to your elbow. • Finally, share out your answer with the group.
