Tampa SCI Center CARF Fair James A Haley Veterans’ Hospital Michael Bilirakis Spinal Cord Injury Center SCI Acute Rehabilitation Program 2020 Tampa, Florida Our Veterans and Service Members: Meeting Goals, Improving Lives Our SCI Acute Rehab Program: • For FY 18 -FY 19 our discharged to the community percentage after 1 year increased from 92% to 100%. • Functional Independence Measure (FIM) motor score improvement increased for all participants except those with ASIA D classification. • Patient satisfaction continues to improve and is high in all 5 domains. • PI plan results: • The ART FIM goals met increased to 92% • ARTs past participants that received their Comprehensive Preventive Health Evaluation increased from 63% in FY 16 to 90% in FY 19. • This year the time to rehab access increased slightly with more post surgical participants. • This year we did not have any participants with prior rehabilitation. • This is the fifth year that we have had Women Veterans/Service Members participate in our rehabilitation program. • Age was slightly younger this year but remains higher than the SCI model system and lower than the VA benchmark. • All of our participants have had traumatic injuries this year. This is very different than the VA benchmark of close to 50% traumatic vs non traumatic. • The rehab length of stay continues to be longer than the SCI Model System or the VA benchmark, but our patient mix contributes to LOS.
