Tadcaster Albion committee and coaches welcome you to the new football season 2016/2017 Football is the number one sport in England for both adults and children. It is part of our national culture, and our daily lives. Tadcaster Albion remains the longest established Junior Football Club in the Tadcaster area. We take players from 4 years old through to under 19’s and we are proud once again to have achieved The FA’s prestigious Charter Standard Club status for the coming season. We remain affiliated to West Riding County FA: www. wrcfa. com All our coaches are a minimum FA Level 1 or FA Age Appropriate qualified and all those associated with the club are CRB checked. Mini Soccer Section (Age 4 to 10 yrs) Younger players play mini soccer up to the age of 10 years, this is played on smaller pitches with simplified rules. We also take children from 4 years of age into our Kindergarten programme. Mini Soccer embraces the concept of fun and enjoyment which is vital if children are to develop a lifelong love for football. The club’s philosophy is all about inclusion and encouragement. Tadcaster Albion JFC is committed to players having a good time in a friendly atmosphere; wellbeing and safety is placed above all other considerations, including the development of performance. • • • Under 7’s Kindergartens learn football skills and how to play football together. Under 7’s to 10’s play non-competitive football and all games are friendly fixtures Under 11’s play league games from September to March We play in the Selby and York Mitchell League Home games are played at Riverside School & on the Ings Away games are in and around the Selby & York areas respectively. Your coach will provide you with a fixtures list and any amendments throughout the season and directions to grounds It is always great to get a good turn out of supporters on match days. Being there to provide much needed support and encouragement for your son or daughter is also your reward as a parent or carer, feeling pride as they grow in skills and confidence. Every player looks for their supporter on the touchline when they have done something to be proud of. Under 10’s All the children benefit from positive encouragement If children are to enjoy football they need to: • Feel success • Take an active part in the game • Learn to play as a team • Understand the laws • Develop soccer skills • Be able to take part whatever their ability • Develop fitness Remember that the coaches also need your support To be respectful of officials and be positive and encouraging towards all children, not just your own To put up and take down the goal posts and corner flags and clear up at training and on match days. Please ask on training & match days if there any jobs to be done. Your support is much appreciated ! 5
Junior Section (Age 10 to 18 yrs) Older players are now split into two groups U 11 &12 who play 9 v 9 and U 13 to U 19 who play 11 v 11. The 9 v 9 game is played on a smaller pitch with a smaller goal when compared to 11 a side, this is part of The FA’s plan in developing more technical skilled players. As the players get into the older age groups the club maintains it commitment to inclusion & enjoyment for all players, but also places emphasis on team performance. • We have a number of local leagues which our teams play in, currently, • • U 11 & 12 play in the York Mitchell League which is based around York area. U 11 girls is a development squad who currently play friendlies U 13, U 14 & U 16 play in the York Minor League, based around York area. U 14 & 15 play in the Selby League U 19 play in the York FA League Home games are played on The Ings or at Riverside school With the occasional home game being played on the Senior pitch. Under 10’s Your coach will provide you with a fixtures list and any amendments throughout the season and directions to grounds Training timings will vary depending on the coaches arrangements, which may include evening training sessions under floodlights As a club each team may get the chance to take part in other activities, which in the past have included Xmas party, laser questing, bowling, football trips to league & international games. we also run a very successful tournament with usually over 100 teams entered. We will also usually enter a number of teams in local tournaments after the season has finished. 6
Financial We often get asked how much does it cost to run the club & what does the money get spent on. Tadcaster Albion JFC Policies and Procedures 1. Codes of Conduct for Players are the most important people in the sport. Playing for the team and for the team to win is the most fundamental part of the game. But not winning at any cost, fair play and respect for all others in the game is even more important. Tadcaster Albion JFC support the FA Respect programme and asks all players to behave themselves when playing football. OBLIGATIONS TOWARDS THE GAME - A player should : 1. 2. 3. 4. Make every effort to develop their skills, technique, tactics and stamina Give maximum effort and strive for the best possible performance during a game Set a positive example to others Not use inappropriate language FOR YOUR OWN TEAM - A player should : 1. Make every effort consistent with fair play and the laws of the game 2. Resist any influence which might question their commitment to the team winning RESPECT THE LAWS OF THE GAME AND COMPETITION RULES - A player should : 1. Know and abide by the laws, rules and spirit of the game 2. Accept success and failure, victory and defeat equally 3. Resist any temptation to take banned substances or use banned techniques RESPECT 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. TOWARDS OPPONENTS - A player should : Treat opponents with respect at all times Safeguard the physical fitness of opponents, avoid violence and rough play and help injured opponents Play fairly, no cheating, complaining or wasting time Continue to play at best, even when losing or the other team in stronger Shake hands with the other team and referee at the end of the game RESPECT TOWARDS MATCH AND TEAM OFFICIALS AND SUPPORTERS - A player should : 1. Accept the decision of the match official without protest 2. Avoid words or actions which may mislead a match official 3. Show respect towards match officials 4. Abide by the instructions of their coach and team officials provided they do not contradict the spirit of this code 5. Show due respect towards the team officials of the opposition 6. Show respect to the interests of supporters Finally talk to someone of trust, for example coaches, parents or club welfare officer if you are unhappy about anything at Tadcaster Albion JFC. 9
Tadcaster Albion JFC Policies and Procedures 2. Code of Conduct for Parents and Spectators: We all have a responsibility to promote high standards of behaviour in the game. This club is supporting The FA's Respect programme to ensure football can be enjoyed by everyone in a safe and positive environment. Play your part and observe The FA's Respect Code of Conduct for spectators and parents/carers at all times. I will: • Remain outside the field of play and behind the Designated Spectator Area (where provided) • Never engage in, or tolerate, offensive, insulting or abusive language or behaviour • Always respect the match officials' decisions • Applaud effort and good play as well as success In addition, when attending youth games I will: • Remember that children play for FUN • Let the coaches do their job and not confuse the players by telling them what to do • Encourage the players to respect the opposition and match officials • Never criticise a player for making a mistake -mistakes are part of learning 10

Disciplinary Process Junior Teams Only (U 11 to U 19) The disciplinary process used by the West Riding County FA follows standard procedures set down by the Football Association and, to aid Officials and Players to understand the procedures, the FA have issued a new booklet. This booklet can be viewed and downloaded from the FA website or the West Riding FA website: www. wrcfa. com Details of offenses, procedures and hearings can also be viewed at this site. Players should be aware that we are now linked to a national database, which links information about players and clubs including all suspensions, from across the country Any fines received by Tadcaster Albion JFC for player, spectator misconduct or cautions (yellow cards), sending offences (red cards) will be charged directly to the parents or carers of the player involved. 4. Complaints Procedure In the event that any member feels that he or she has suffered discrimination in any way, or that the Club Policies or Rules or Code of Conduct has been broken, the procedure below should be followed. 1. The complainant should report the matter to the club secretary or another member of the committee. The report should include: a. Details of what, when and where the occurrence took place b. Any witness statements and/or names c. Names of any others who have been treated in a similar way d. Detail any former complaints made about the incident, date, when and to whom e. A preference for a solution to the incident 2. The Club’s management committee will sit for any hearings requested 3. The Club’s management committee will have the power to: a. Warn as to future conduct b. Suspend from membership c. Safeguarding Children Policy and Procedures Let’s make football safe – not sorry 5. Tadcaster Albion Junior Football Club Safeguarding Children Policy 5. 1 Tadcaster Albion Junior Football Club acknowledges its responsibility to safeguard the welfare of every child and young person who has been entrusted to its care and is committed to working to provide a safe environment for all members. A child or young person is anyone under the age of 18 engaged in any club football activity. We subscribe to The Football Association’s (The FA) Safeguarding Children – Policy and Procedures and endorse and adopt the Policy Statement contained in that document. 5. 2 The key principles of The FA Safeguarding Children Policy are that: the child’s welfare is, and must always be, the paramount consideration all children and young people have a right to be protected from abuse regardless of their age, gender, disability, race, sexual orientation, faith or belief all suspicions and allegations of abuse will be taken seriously and responded to swiftly and appropriately working in partnership with other organisations, children and young people and their parents/carers is essential. We acknowledge that every child or young person who plays or participates in football should be able to take part in an enjoyable and safe environment and be protected from poor practice and abuse. Tadcaster Albion Football Club recognises that this is the responsibility of every adult involved in our club 5. 3 Tadcaster Albion Junior Football Club has a role to play in safeguarding the welfare of all children and young people by protecting them from physical, sexual or emotional harm and from neglect or bullying. It is noted and accepted that The Football Association’s Safeguarding Children Regulations (see The FA Handbook) applies to everyone in football whether in a paid or voluntary capacity. This means whether you are a volunteer, match official, helper on club tours, football coach, club official or medical staff. 5. 4 We endorse and adopt The FA’s Responsible Recruitment guidelines for recruiting volunteers and we will: Specify what the role is and what tasks it involves Request identification documents As a minimum meet and chat with the applicant(s) and where possible interview people who are taking significant roles in the club before appointing them Ask for and follow up with 2 references before appointing someone Require an FA CRC Unit Enhanced Disclosure where appropriate in line with FA guidelines All current Tadcaster Albion Junior Football Club members who are regularly caring for, supervising, training or being in sole charge of children and young people are required to complete a CRC Enhanced Disclosure via The FA CRC Unit. If there are concerns regarding the appropriateness of an individual who is already involved or who has approached us to become part of Tadcaster Albion Junior Football Club guidance will be sought from The Football Association. It is noted and accepted that the FA will consider the relevance and significance of the information obtained via the FA CRB Unit Enhanced Disclosure and that all decisions will be made in the best interests of children and young people. It is accepted that The FA aims to prevent people with a history of relevant and significant offending from having contact with children or young people and the opportunity to influence policies or practice with children or young people. This is to prevent direct sexual or physical harm to children and to minimise the risk of ‘grooming’ within football. 5. 5 Tadcaster Albion Junior Football Club supports The FA’s Whistle blowing Policy. Any adult or young person with concerns about a colleague can ‘whistle blow’ by contacting The FA Safeguarding Team on 0207 745 4787, by writing to The FA Case Manager at The Football 12 Association, 25 Soho Square, W 1 D 4 FA or alternatively by going direct to the Police, Children’s Services or the NSPCC. Tadcaster Albion Junior Football Club encourages everyone to know about it and utilise it if necessary.
5. 6 5. 7 5. 8 5. 9 Tadcaster Albion Junior Football Club has appointed a Club Welfare Officer in line with The FA’s role profile and required completion of the Safeguarding Children and Welfare Officers Workshop. The post holder will be involved with Welfare Officer Training provided by The FA and/or County FA. The Club Welfare Officer is the first point of contact for all club members regarding concerns about the welfare of any child or young person. The Club Welfare Officer will liaise directly with the County FA (CFA) Welfare Officer and will be familiar with the procedures for referring any concerns. They will also play a proactive role in increasing awareness of Respect, poor practice and abuse amongst club members. We acknowledge and endorse The FA’s identification of bullying as a category of abuse. Bullying of any kind is not acceptable at our club. If bullying does occur, all players or parents/carers should be able to tell and know that incidents will be dealt with promptly. Incidents need to be reported to the Club Welfare Officer in cases of serious bullying the CFA Welfare Officer may be contacted. Respect codes of conduct for Players, Parents/Spectators, Officials and Coaches have been implemented by Tadcaster Albion Junior Football Club. In order to validate these Respect codes of conduct the club has clear actions it will take regarding repeated or serious misconduct at club level and acknowledges the possibility of potential sanctions which may be implemented by the County FA in more serious circumstances. Reporting your concerns about the welfare of a child or young person. Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility, if you are worried about a child it is important that you report your concerns – no action is not an option. i. ii. iii. iv. v. If you are worried about a child then you need to report your concerns to the Club Welfare Officer If the issue is one of poor practice the Club Welfare Officer will either: deal with the matter themselves or seek advice from the CFA Welfare Officer If the concern is more serious (possible child abuse) where possible, contact the CFA Welfare Officer first, then immediately contact the Police or Children’s Services If the child needs immediate medical treatment take them to a hospital or call an ambulance and tell them this is a child protection concern. Let your Club Welfare Officer know what action you have taken, they in turn will inform the CFA Welfare Officer If at any time you are not able to contact your Club Welfare Officer or the matter is clearly serious then you can either: contact your CFA Welfare Officer directly contact the Police or Children’s Services call The FA/NSPCC 24 hour Helpline for advice on 0808 800 5000 or Deaf users text phone 0800 0566 NB – The FA’s Safeguarding Children Policy and Procedures are available via www. The policy outlines in detail what to do if you are concerned about the welfare of a child and includes flow diagrams which describe this process. How to make a referral is also covered in the Safeguarding Children workshop. Participants are given the opportunity to discuss how this feels and how best they can prepare themselves to deal with such a situation.
