Care Under Fire The casualty to remain as a combatant as far as possible Casualty to move to cover if able to, and to provide self aid if possible Do not rush out to treat the casualty Provide suppressive fire Look for massive bleeding Tie arterial tourniquet “high and tight” Move the casualty to a covered position 2
Tactical Field Care Disarm any casualty that appears dazed and confused Remove IBA and clothing where possible Perform blood sweep and visual inspection Apply field dressing to any other wound 3
Tactical Evacuation Care Evacuate the casualty to the Casualty Collection Point M 4 Mechanism of Injury (how the casualty got injured) Use appropriate techniques of evacuation I Injury or Injuries sustained Utilize the cover litter that each rifle section carries S Signs and Symptoms Report to the medic using the acronym MIST.
