BUCKEYE CANDY SUPPLIES NEEDED: 1 Large mixing bowl 1 double boiler 1 stirring spoon Toothpicks Wax paper Cookie Sheet Plastic wrap INGREDIENTS: 1 jar of peanut butter (18 oz. size) 1 stick of butter 1 teaspoon of vanilla 1 lb. of powdered sugar 1 package of semi-sweet chocolate bits (12 oz. ) ½ bar of paraffin wax 1. _Mix__ together peanut butter, vanilla, and sugar in a large bowl. Consistency of dough is right when you can roll it into balls without crumbling or being too sticky. 2. _Roll__ dough into tight bite-sized balls, about 1 inch in diameter. Place balls on a non-stick Cookie sheet and cover with plastic. Chill 15 -30 min. in the freezer. 3_. Melt__ chocolate bits and paraffin wax over very low heat in the double boiler. Stir constantly so the chocolate doesn’t burn. Caution: Do this step with an adult or parent. 4. _Dip__ chilled balls into chocolate by using a toothpick. Leave a space about the size of a dime on each piece. Place wax paper on a cookie sheet and set the balls on the wax paper. Only take a few balls out of the freezer at a time to dip. They thaw very quickly. 5. _Cover__ and _Chill__ the balls in the refrigerator until the chocolate sets. Use a damp clean fingertip to blend out the toothpick marks. Store in the refrigerator until you are ready to eat them!
