Tabitha hasn’t felt like hanging out with her friends lately. They are all really happy and she just doesn’t feel that way – and hasn’t for a while. Tabitha feels really confused. She feels like something bad has happened to her, but nothing has. Last night she heard her mom on the phone saying, ‘I’m worried about Tabitha’s mental health. ’ What do you think we mean when we talk about ‘mental health’? Why might Tabitha’s mom be concerned about her? Do you think she should be? Why? Explain what you think the difference might be between mental health and physical health.
