Dear President Trump, My name is Mohammed, I am a married immigrant from Syria. My family and I left my homeland because we are struggling to survive there is harsh winters and also hot summers but there is also war and one of my Friend got shot and we don't want the rest of my family to be a target to them. I had been waiting for 2 years for a permit (V. I. S. A) and the time came and we came on a ship from syria it smelled like vomit very nasty like pee and poop many people died. We also got checked by security for security reasons. On our way to the United States we met an American that was pretty nice, he gave us shelter and food he also lend us his back garage but its was filthy but hey it's better than nothing or rather than living in the streets. But now we have a little house we're renting in San Francisco. Our experience so far is good because there is more security here in the United States. The food is very different from Syria and more expensive. We faced many discriminations , an example is when we were walking to the market and there were 3 teenagers and they said “Run Terrorists are coming”. We also experience one that we were walking to a store and people were screaming “go back to your country muslims”. Sometimes we still can be discriminated but the security and protection of this country changes our mind not to leave and instead stay and accept ourselves and that we don't need anyone to tell us otherwise. Sincerely, Mohammed and family

Dear Donald Trump I am an immigrant from my country called syria. The reason we left are homeland was because of the civil war that happened and the danger that could happen if everyone stayed their and that is why we left. My journey to europe to go to the united states was hard because everyone gust wanted to get away from syria and to not be killed. My experience living in the united state was kind of good because there was more opportunities to work in the united states but we got discriminated. yes i have been discriminated because of people saying we were dangerous. Sincerely, kathleem mohamed

Dear President Bashar al-Assad, It was Tuesday, March 15, 2011 when the civil war in Syria began, I was of the age of 17. I had believed that my beloved country wouldn’t fall into violence, but I was wrong. It wasn’t until a chemical bombing in a local market, had claimed the lives of my father and my 2 younger siblings, that what remained of my family and I had decided to leave our home country. The process to come to the U. S was long and difficult. We first had to find a camp run by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), in a neighbouring country, which we had gotten to by miles and miles of walking and tiny boats where they stuffed hundreds of people, instead of the twenty it was made for. The skin on my feet was burning like an egg being cooked on a stove, I didn’t think that I could take much more. After weeks of walking and traveling by sea we had finally arrived. UNHCR referred my family and I to resettle in the U. S because we luckily had relatives in Los Angeles. After a year and a half homeland security had finally cleared us to go the U. S. I had arrived in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Luckily I was one of the few who had studied english in high school. At first we struggled a bit to find jobs, but after a while our relatives helped us almost completely adapt to our new environment. I finished high school in California and was able to go to UCLA, a college in California. In 2016 I graduated with my bachelors in business and now currently work in a bank. Everyday, from the moment I arrived in the U. S I was discriminated against. They called me a terrorist just because I came from the Middle East and was Muslim. They made a joke out of something serious that has not only affected my life, but the life of hundreds of thousands of others. From the day I had arrived I was made fun of just for being different. I wrote this letter to you President Bashar al-Assad because I would like to share my story, so that hopefully this will inspire you to finally end the civil war in Syria by a political solution that will both end the violence and benefit our country. Sincerely,
(This was a similar camp to the one we lived in, while waiting to be resettled by the UNHCR. )
Dear Syrian President I am a mother of two along with my husband we chose to leave our home country in hope of a better life. The reason i am speaking this message for me and my family is because we are in the middle of a war zone. This is not the type of conditions i want my family to live in. The experiences we have so far in the United States is difficult because we are from a different culture and we have different thoughts than the common American. We started poor living in a small room that cousins that were already here offered us to stay in while we looked for a home manageable to keep us sheltered and well protected that we can call home. We do get called names and people want to us to convert form our religion to as most American as possible but we refuse to and only follow what is required such as speaking Enlish and putting respect on other people names. We are now living in a home that we bought and it is all due to the hard work we payed off to. Sincerely Rosarita
