Synergians initiated a study to analyse ‘how often people says thank you (or any other form of expressing gratitude) to the lower level service personnel of society such as auto drivers, bus conductors, cab drivers, hotel suppliers, petrol pump clerks and supermarket cashiers. ’ Have You ever said ‘Thank You’ to a bus conductor? Every human being is a passenger and ‘Safe and comfortable journey’ is the right of every human being. There are two major factors which control the most important elements of quality travelling- safety and comfort. They are Internal Forces- Passenger Service Providers (condition of the vehicle and the actions of the vehicle crew) and passengers themselves External Forces- Government, Political parties and other organizations Bus crew play an important role in ensuring the upliftment of Passenger Rights and Passenger Service Standards. Passengers are regularly complaining about the poor behaviour of bus crew. Synergians conducted a study to understand the psychological and professional causes of this poor behaviour. The findings of this study finger to some serious causes which we are unnoticed. © SYNERGIANS SOCIETY 2013

Our bus crew are surviving in a very difficult and unsecured work environment due to the following factors. 1. Heavy traffic, bad road conditions & obsolete bus schedules result in unfair competitions, over speed, rash driving and rivalry among bus crews. Moreover bus crew force passengers to get in and alight quickly in a bad manner 2. Most of the bus crew are not covered under social security measures such as ESI & PF. 3. Lack of career growth opportunities 4. Rude behaviour from government officials such as police, motor vehicle department etc in front of their customers, i. e. passengers 5. Lack of appreciation, recognition and lack of words of gratitude from passengers and bus owners 6. Lack of respect to the job & uniform 7. What we do § We are trying to influence authorities for New Bus Schedules, New insurance/welfare scheme for bus crew, Good roads & Change in Uniform § We are initiating activities to ensure change in attitude & behaviour of passengers and bus crew § Instill ‘Professionalism’ in passenger service industry § We are demonstrating ‘How small changes can bring big difference’ © SYNERGIANS SOCIETY 2013

BUS WORKERS DAY Why December 12? © SYNERGIANS SOCIETY 2013 § Birthday of India’s Bus Conductor turned SUPER STAR ‘Rajnikanth’. § Commemorating the unique friendship of a bus driver and a bus conductor, Raja Bahadur & Shivaji Rao Gaikwad § Rajni’s success portraits the heights not only a conductor can, but every common human being can achieve with determination and hard work § So, Synergians believes that the Birthday of Rajni is the best day to celebrate Bus Workers Day to inspire our bus workers to achieve greater heights in their lives and become Super Driver and Super Conductor.
BUS WORKERS WEEK (Dec 12 -16) Why December 16? © SYNERGIANS SOCIETY 2013 § Jyoti Singh Pandey, the 23 -year-old physiotherapy student was brutally gang raped by six bus workers in a moving Delhi bus on December 16, 2012. She died in hospital on December 28. § This incident was shameful all Good Bus workers. Still these kinds of indecent behaviors from the side of bus workers are reporting regularly § We need to change this situation. All bus workers should be good human beings.

State Governments and bus companies have to initiate § § ‘Super Driver’ & ‘Super Conductor’ awards to best bus employees Bus workers have to celebrate with § Decorating buses, bus stations and depots § Distributing sweets

Creed of Bus Workers All bus workers must judiciously follow ‘The Creed of Bus Workers’ to make every journey a wonderful experience © SYNERGIANS SOCIETY 2013
BUS WORKERS DAY § Advocating concepts such as ‘Bus Workers Day’ and ‘Thank You Movement’ to improve the lives of bus workers and Passengers across India § Liaison with Governments to start special scholarship schemes for bus workers and their children § Liaison with Governments and bus companies to establish ‘SUPER DRIVER’ and SUPER CONDUCTOR’ awards to best employees to encourage best performers and professionalism § Promoting professionalism among bus workers through concepts like ‘Creed of Bus Workers’ § Conducting celebrations and National Seminar on Working Environment of Bus Workers’ to discuss the issues of bus workers What Synergians do © SYNERGIANS SOCIETY 2013
Bus Workers Benevolent Fund © SYNERGIANS SOCIETY 2013 § If the governments are not initiating any activities for Bus Workers, we are planning to create a Rs. 10, 000 Bus Workers Benevolent Fund. § This fund will be used to give scholarships & Super Driver and Super Conductor Awards
