BOILER A boiler is a closed vessel in which water or other fluid is heated. The heated or vaporized fluid exits the boiler for use in various processes or heating applications.
Types of Boilers Types. Fire Tube Boiler - Cochran boiler Water Tube Boiler – Bob cock boiler Horizontal, vertical - Lancashire boiler ( Horizontal) Cochran ( Vertical) Single tube or multi tube – Cornish boiler ( Single) Cochran ( multi) Stationary or mobile -Marine boiler( mobile)
Fire Tube Boiler • Relatively small steam capacities (12, 000 • • kg/hour) Low to medium steam pressures (18 kg/cm 2) Operates with oil, gas or solid fuels
Water Tube Boiler • • Used for high steam demand pressure requirements Capacity range of 4, 500 – 120, 000 kg/hour Combustion efficiency enhanced by induced draft provisions Lower tolerance for water quality and needs water treatment plant.
Horizontal & Vertical Boiler
Boiler Mountings Those fittings which are primarily intended for safety of boiler • • a) Two water level indicator b) Fusible plug c) Stem stop valve d) Feed check valve. e) Blow off valve f) Two safety valve g) Pressure gauge h) Man and mud holes
Boiler Accessories • Feed Pump • Steam injector • Economizer and feed heater • Super heater. • Air Pre heater.
Economizers • To heat the feed water before it enters into the boiler.
Feed Pump • A boiler feed water pump is a specific type of pump used to . pump feedwater into a steam boiler
Super heater • A super heater is a device used to convert saturated steam or wet steam into dry steam used for power generation or processes.
Air Pre heater • The purpose of the air pre heater is to recover the heat from the boiler flue gas which increases thermal efficiency of the boiler by reducing the useful heat lost in the flue gas.
