Instructional Minutes The state requires minimum instructional minutes per grade level for each day under SB 98. Grades 1 -3: 3 hours and 50 minutes per day (230 minutes) ● Hybrid schedule is 160 minutes of in person instruction ○ Students will be required by law to be offered a minimum of 60 minutes of independent work each day in addition to the in person learning minutes mentioned above. Students will be engaged in either live interactions, virtual instruction, or assigned independent work that will equate to this amount of time per school day, at a minimum.
Supplies & Materials Please make sure that ALL supplies that went home in the blue bag during pick up (including crayons, folders, journals, etc. ) come back when we return to in person schooling. They will need their pencil box, headphones, a mask (labeled with your child’s name), a backpack to carry supplies to and from school, and a fully charged i. Pad. If possible, they may also have a book and a small bottle of sanitizer.
Classroom Expectation Each and every day, I expect my students to achieve great things. ● ● ● Show Respect – Behavior & Attitude Come to class prepared Contribute to the learning process – Listen Well Have confidence & never give up Do your best – I expect nothing less than 100% effort! SHINE your Brightest everyday!
PAWS Classroom rules are posted & each person is expected to follow these rules everyday. I use the removal of Dojo points and the STEP program to help you know where your student’s behavior stands. STEP cards will be used to track choices that do not follow PAWS expectation. There are five STEPs: 1. Verbal Warning (I will give at least one “free” verbal warning before issuing a STEP) 2. No recess and conference with the teacher 3. Phone call home by student with teacher supervision 4. Visit to the principal’s office 5. Suspension from the classroom or school Each STEP is followed by 3 days probation. If there is improvement during those 3 days, the STEP is cleared and students are given a fresh start. If students continue to make wrong choices, they will earn the next STEP with further consequences, and the 3 days probation starts all over again.
