Key Findings • The biggest strengths of Sweden are its low level of corruption (1) and strong economic performance (3) (despite the need for more support for the business environment (7)) combined with its commitment to democracy (9), press freedom (10) and gender equality (11) as well as environmental protection (15). • The biggest cause for concern is the rapid decline in the level of peace/violence (5). Also of concern are the level of social cohesion (12), the quality of the environment and the level of protection of the environment, although all three issues have been improving in recent years. The level of business support is also an issue (7) and continues to decline. • Progress on corruption (1), gender equality (11), social cohesion (12), quality of the environment (14) and protection of the environment (15) has been sporadic.
Actions by Level of Consciousness LEVEL 1 Pay attention to the consistently declining score for health infrastructure. LEVEL 2 The biggest issue in Sweden is the rapidly increasing level of violence. LEVEL 3 It will be important to focus on improving the support given to the business environment.
Actions by Level of Consciousness LEVEL 4 This is the best performing level of consciousness with some of the highest rankings. Attention must be paid to Improving the level of democracy, which is currently in decline, and continuing to focus on gender equality.
Actions by Level of Consciousness LEVEL 5 Although social cohesion has been increasing in recent years it is the lowest ranking of all indicators. More attention needs to be given to this topic, which is probably linked to the increasing level of violence. LEVEL 6 Increased efforts are needed to improve the quality of the environment and the management of environmental protection. LEVEL 7 The level of strength, stability and legitimacy of the State is steadily decreasing. This issue may be linked to the failings at Level 4 and Level 5.
