Buddhism • • Founder: Siddhartha Gautama Civilization: India Holy Books: NO Holy book. Major Beliefs: Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold path = steps to follow to give up all worldly desires. o Nirvana = a state of happiness.

Practice! Your teacher is going to place a practice question on the board. She will give you 30 second to read the question and come up with an answer choice. She will then poll the class asking (who would choose A? who would choose B (etc. ))
The answer would be India, because as we took notes – Hinduism is India’s oldest religion! People in China did not believe in Hinduism, nor did West Africa or Central America!
The correct answer is Buddhism for several reasons. Siddhartha was the founder of Buddhism, the four noble truths and eight fold path were Buddhists steps to reach Nirvana! Islam’s founder was Mohammed, Shintoism was a Japanese belief system unimportant to our class, and Taoism (same as Daoism) was a philosophy in China that is not described by these bubbles!
The question is asking you to look at a chart. One side shows the description of Hinduism. The next chart is missing the title BUT gives you the description! The only religion that prays 5 times and believes in Allah (God) would be Islam, these are parts of their 5 pillars!
