Sustainable Shed Solar Air Heater Entire BE 4730
Sustainable Shed Solar Air Heater Entire BE 4730 Class Prepared by: Carolyn Coffey, Ben Leppard, and Matt Rosen
Purpose -The solar air heater (SAH), along with the entire sustainable shed, got destroyed while in transit from Mc. Adams to the Aquaculture facility. Our project was to design, fabricate, implement and analyze the a new SAH for the sustainable shed.
Design ❖ Passive flow, split-channel system separated by absorber plate ➢ ➢ Inlet is perpendicular to the ground Outlet is parallel to the ground ❖ Asymmetrically tapered from outside to inside in order to fit into 21” window.

Using Methylene Chloride to bind sheets of acrylic
Piecing it all together
Installing into the sustainable shed!
Surface of Absorber plate ❖ Use of black paint increased emissivity to 0. 98 ❖ Graphite increased surface area ❖ Maximizing efficiency

Inlet/Outlet Data
Determining Effective Heat Transfer Assumed v=0. 1 (m/s) (v=velocity of air) u can be calculated through smoking technique
Determining Heat Generation Assumed v=0. 5 (m/s) v can be calculated through smoking technique
