Dorm Life Dorm life can be very different for college freshman. Usually, freshman dorms are not as nice as the dorms designated for the upperclass housing. Typically, any given student will have one roommate and may have two adjoining suitemates. East Carolina Dorm Rooms Layout. Digital image. Transportation provided for students at the college level varies from college to college. Some colleges do not allow first year students to have their vehicles on campus. Colleges that do allow students to have their vehicles on campus usually have to pay a parking fee. For most colleges, there is a college transit service (ae Spartan Chariot, Appalcart), which students can use either for free or a transportation plan. UNC Charlotte Campus Tours. Digital image. Transportation Again, most campuses vary as far as transportation goes, but for almost every campus, there are certain means of transportation that are available. For example, campuses embrace bike riding, which is an environmentally friendly mean for transportation and also a great way to exercise. There is also longboarding, hoverboarding, carpooling, and, of course, walking. Digital image. Web. 7 June 2017. <http: //uncw. edu/transportation/bikes. html>.

College Food! Each college has their own unique way of providing food for students. For the most part, students have the ability to set up meal plans according to their eating schedule and meal preference. Colleges offer this food through the school's cafe (or several cafes), and some meal plans may also work for the other restaurants on campus. Keep Calm It's Taco Tuesday. Digital image. Clubs and Organizations Each college is home to their own specific clubs, and it is all a matter of preference to the student to pick and choose which club they would like to join. There are clubs everywhere from glee clubs to a cappella clubs to equality clubs to science clubs. Earlier in the school year, schools will hold a club day where the clubs advertise their clubs for students to join. Similar to clubs, each school has a wide variety of sororities and fraternities. Furthermore, each house has their own specific days that students are allowed to join. Digital image. Web. 7 June 2017. <http: //www. ecu. edu/csstudentaffairs/greeklife/ifc/phigammadelta. cfm>.

Class Size One of the luxuries that we have at the community college level is the teacher to student ratio. Smaller class sizes in the community college level allows for a more intimate learning environment. That is not the case for 4 year institutions. Due to larger class sizes, it is important for students to learn better studying techniques as well as learn the best way to get in contact with their professor. There also several other techniques such as better note taking, study groups and tutors. Digital image. Student Loans Unfortunately, 4 year institutions are substantially more expensive than community college. It may be in your best interest to apply for student loans in order to help pay for college. First, however, be sure and apply for as much scholarship help as possible. It is also a good idea to only borrow what is absolutely essential. After all, you do have to repay them. Be sure and keep a copy of your student loan records so you can reference back to them when needed. Typically, student loan payments begin shortly after the student finishes college. Be sure and make payments on time because there are repercussions of missing student loan payments. Money Sign. Digital image.
