Survey Results (strong differences) • Japanese people considered their ability to communicate in English quite low compared to their foreign counterparts (Q. 1) • Japanese people thought foreign visitors might know more about the culture than they actually do (Q. 10) • Japanese people thought foreign visitors would find Kyoto expensive, but the foreign visitors disagreed completely (Q. 4)
Survey Results (slight differences) • Japanese people thought that foreign visitors might be more bothered by the number of tourists or effect of tourism than they actually are (Q. 2) • Japanese people seemed to underestimate the interest foreign visitors have in Japanese food and cuisine (Q. 9)
Survey Results (general agreement) • All respondents agreed transport and ease of movement around the city was good (Q. 3) • All respondents agreed there may be some problems concerning language/communication (Q. 5) • All respondents strongly agreed tourism was very important to the city (Q. 7) • All respondents strongly agreed safety was not an issue (100% of foreign visitors) (Q. 6)
