Sure Stats What is Sure Stats? Sure Stats is an add-on for SAP that provides Organizations with detailed Statistical Information about how their SAP system is being utilized. This information empowers users to make important business decisions with confidence The Type of Statistical Information that Sure Stats stores includes: • Program / Transaction • Load Time • Execution User • Wait Time • Terminal Used • DB Time • Response Time • Number of DB reads/writes/deletes • CPU Time • Amount of memory used • GUI Time • etc

Sure Stats How does it work? The SAP Kernel records Statistical Information for every dialog step that is executed within SAP on each Work Processor SAP Kernel Work Processor This Statistical Information is stored in Dataset files on the SAP Server (default is set to 48 hours) Dataset Files Sure Stats accumulates the data in the Dataset files at the end of each day into a series of DB Tables Sure Stats DB Tables The Sure Stats DB Tables provide Historical Statistical Data for reporting purposes Sure Stats Reporting . . . Sure Stats What are the benefits of using Sure Stats? • Identify your most frequently used Programs: This is especially useful before an upgrade so you can prioritise these programs • Identify who the main users are for specific Programs: This is useful as these users can provide you with detailed information about a program as well as assist in getting changes tested • Alerts: Can be used to inform you of potential problems before they become actual problems, eg when programs experience an increase in average response time (possibly due to an inefficient change) • Monitor the workload on your system: This will let you know when your peak periods are as well as how your hardware is coping with them • Identify possible bottlenecks: eg highlight long running programs that might need to be improved

Sure Stats Statistical Data Volume Management SAP typically only stores 48 hours of detailed Statistical information, mainly due to the sheer volume of data that is involved. Sure Stats is able to store more than 48 hours worth of Statistical information by making use of the following: • Filtering: When Sure Stats queries the Statistical Dataset files, it allows you to filter what data will be passed to the Sure Stats DB Tables, eg only show stats for Transaction/Programs that take longer than 30 seconds, or only show Custom Programs as SAP Standard programs (the majority) will be monitored by normal processes such as SAP Early. Watch etc • Multiple DB Tables: Sure Stats stores the RAW Statistical Metadata in a single DB Table. However Sure Stats also has a series of DB Tables that aggregate the Metadata to make reporting easier, namely daily, weekly, monthly and yearly aggregated DB Tables • Archiving: The Sure Stats DB Tables have archiving functionality. Even once the data has been archived, it is possible to query Archived data as well

Sure Stats Load Program - Selection Screen This Program will run daily to retrieve the previous day’s Statistical Data from the various Dataset Files and transfer this data to the Sure Stats DB Tables It is possible to Filter what data you are interested in keeping track of, for example: • You might only be interested in programs that exceed a runtime of 60 seconds • You might only be interested in tracking Custom Programs (ie Z* programs) Segmented Reads can be used to cater for systems that have large amounts of Statistical data

Sure Stats Report - Selection Screen Users can specify what Level of Statistical Data they wish to view, ie: Raw data, or summarised at a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly level Using the Filters on this Selection Screen, Users can be very specific in selecting what type of data they wish to view

This is done by making use of a counter to represent the total number of executions of each Program / Transaction in the month Drilldown Reporting is supported for more detailed Analysis on a record

Sure Stats SAP Versions • The SAP Kernel stores Statistical information differently depending on what version of SAP is being used • As a result of this, Sure Stats has different versions of the “Load” process to cater for different versions of SAP • Aside from the “Load” process, the rest of the processes and programs within Sure Stats will work the same regardless of which version of SAP you are using • If you do install Sure Stats and perform an upgrade in the future, you will need to update the “Load” process, however the rest of the processes and programs will not need to be changed

Sure Stats Installation One of our other products, Sure Landscapes, will be used to for the installation process. Sure Landscapes will automatically create the following objects on your system in a matter of seconds: • Development Class: A New Development will be created for Sure Stats and it will contain all objects required by Sure Stats • Transport: A new Transport will be created which will contain all components of Sure Stats • Domains, Domain Values • Data Elements • Structures • Database Tables • Programs, Program Texts, Program Screens
