Recommendation #1 (cont. ): Estimated Number of Students Affected: (out of approximately 9, 600 students Pre-K - 5) • 519 students (Planning Unit Moves) – 50 walkers continue to walk (10%) – 58 walkers become bus riders (11%) – 79 bus riders become walkers (15%) – 332 bus riders continue to ride buses (64%) • 136 students (Program Moves) • Total Students = 655

Recommendation #2: Grandfathering Grandfather all rising students in Grades 4 & 5 (current 3 rd and 4 th graders) Grandfather younger siblings of Grade 4 & 5 students (if concurrently enrolled in the school as of June 2008) Provide transportation for two years (until grandfathered Grade 4 and 5 students transition out)

Recommendation #3: Create a Citizen’s Advisory Committee on Enrollment and Capacity Committee Charge: Recommend process, format, and timeline to develop recommendations for future years about: • • School admissions Boundaries Program locations Other factors Recommend ways to promote long-term balance in: • Capacity utilization • Consistency • Fairness in educational alternatives Identify ways to further public understanding of the choices available.
