Fo. S SM Tests main Achievements (1) • Cooldown within 40 K gradient over cold mass: duration ~7 days • HV test at cold on Long Quadrupole passed at 1 k. V and not at 1. 5 k. V; on sextupole passed at 200 V Phase 1 : 284 K- 80 K Phase 2 : 80 K – 4. 2 K • Possible leakage on the Thermal Shield pipes (investigation on going on TB 2) • Leakage on current leads (reparation is possible and is under discussion) • Heat loads higher than expected: dedicated studies will be carried out on TB 2 closing the holes of the TS with MLI patches Antonella Chiuchiolo / Super – FRS magnets testing: summary of activities in 2020 5

S SM Tests main Achievements (2) • Stretched wire and rotating coil systems: commissioning on both long quadrupole and sextupole Stretched wire • Measurements with SW and rotating coil on both LQ and Sextupole show the agreement between the two systems [P. Thiesen] • GSI/CERN interfaces: • Instrumentation panel: 2 of 3 received, 1 st fully commissioned on TB 1, 2 nd under commissioning on TB 2, 3 rd under assembly in GSI • Electrical cabinets: 3 received, 1 st fully commissioned on TB 1 and 2 nd under commissioning on TB 2 • Control software: improvements on going, new version to be released [M. Michels, T. Barbe] • Jumper connection: completed in TB 1 and TB 2 [G. View tools & services (RADE) due to the migration from RDA 2 to RDA 3 Translating Fluxmeter 3 D mapper • Modification and production of a new platform on TB 2 for testing Dipole is on going • Mapper and translating fluxmeter for Dipole magnetic measurements: commissioned in lab, to be validated with the Fo.
