Sunlight (white light) is made up of all the colours of the rainbow Principals of Colour Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet This can be seen when we shine light through a prism. What are the colours that can be seen in a rainbow?
Red is a primary colour, name another primary colour with a cool tone.

Did you guess yellow? To create secondary colours, we need to mix together the primary colours. What colour do we get when we mix blue and red together?
Did you know that violet would be produced by mixing red and blue? Which secondary colour do we get when we mix blue and yellow?

Using the colour star to subdue unwanted tones. Opposites on the colour star are used to counteract unwanted tones What would you use to subdue yellow? Using a violet toner will subdue hair that is too yellow. Use the colour star to complete the problems on the next slide.

What would you use to tone down the hair? We can subdue unwanted colours by using opposites on the colour star. These are called complimentary colours.
