THE ROOM PREP Immediate good impression for client Immediate step up from your competitors. THE ESSENTIALS - Sticky feet - Clean Towels - Barrier cream - Lusso Tan primer - Hair net - Paper pants. THE EXPERIENCE Remove the uncertainty Talk & guide them through the tanning steps.

STEP 1 - PREP Warm the room for your client - spray can be cold Place a clean towel on the floor, where you want the client to stand. Set sticky feet, sticky side up, ready for the client to stand on. Place a 2 nd clean towel on the floor, ready for the client once the tan is finished Give your client paper pants and ensure they wear a hairnet. MAKE THE CLIENT FEEL AS COMFORTABLE AS YOU CAN. Each client is unique, not everyone is used to striping down in front of a therapist, they may even feel exposed or uneasy. IF A CLIENT SEEMS UNCOMFORTABLE: USING PAPER PANTS: explain they are more than welcome to keep their own pants on but the tan could stain. BEING UNDRESSED: some clients may ask to keep a bra on. Try to reassure them that they are in a secure environment & although you can spray them wearing a bra, the final tan will look better if they took it off. .

STEP 2 - TAN Check the spray tan gun, test that it is working well by spraying a piece of tissue paper. Apply 8%, 10% or 12% Lusso Tan spray tan, remembering to spray face, including ears. . The answers inform the percentage you will use and how to explain that choice to your client

THE TAN STANCE THE SPRAY TAN

THE TAN STANCE AS THE EXPERT YOU HAVE CHOSEN LUSSO TAN. Once the client has: - Applied barrier cream - Stripped to their underwear - Tied their hair back - Put their hairnet on Ask them to stand on their sticky feet on the towel with their back to you, therapist. Ask the client to put their hands in ‘prayer’ in front of them. This will help smooth out the client’s back for a more even coverage & avoid over spray reaching the palms of the hands.

THE SPRAY TAN IT’S PERFECTLY SIMPLE. We recommend you using our Primer to cleanse, plump and ready the client’s skin for the ideal tan. BACK Start at the top of the back, spray downward in a long even vertical strokes all over the back. LEGS TURN - Ask the client to turn round keeping their hands in prayer until you have sprayed legs. FRONT - With same technique, start on the upper leg & spray downwards to the feet in even strokes. SIDES - Ask the client to position their legs for you to achieve even coverage for inside & outer sides. Repeat for backs of legs.

THE SPRAY TAN IT’S PERFECTLY SIMPLE. FEET A light spray on the tops of the feet is all you’ll need. FACE Do this in three vertical strokes. Ask the client to hold their breath for each stroke. SHOULDERS When tanning the shoulders, chest & stomach area use the same even strokes as before. ARMS Tan from shoulder to hand. Remember the inside of the arm too.

THE SPRAY TAN IT’S PERFECTLY SIMPLE. SIDES For the sides of their body, ask your client to raise their arms. Start at the armpit & work your long even vertical strokes down to the pant line HANDS Ask the client to make a claw shape with their fingers & spray in light even strokes.

THE FINISH SHOWING THE LOVE

THE FINISH The finishing touches will give that final polish to your client’s tan and show the care you take in your work. Wipe excess spray tan from finger & toe nails. Your client’s spray tan should now be dry and you can invite them to redress.

SHOWING THE LOVE IT’S TIME TO MAKE SURE THE CLIENT FEELS GOOD. ASK THEM IF THEY: - Have any questions? - Are happy with the application? If they have any concerns like: THE COLOUR ISN’T STRONG ENOUGH Reassure them that this is simply the guide colour and that their final tan will reveal over the next few hours. MISSED AREAS Using the Lusso Tan technique you shouldn’t miss any areas, so reassure them that all is ok.

SHOWING THE LOVE IT’S TIME TO MAKE SURE THE CLIENT FEELS GOOD. GIVE THIS GOOD AFTERCARE ADVICE: To avoid getting their tan wet, especially showering, bathing or swimming, for 7 hours. Guide colour can be washed of with lukewarm water after 7 hours. To avoid soap or moisturiser with an oil base, these will fade their tan. For best results, after 3 -4 days use Lusso Tan’s moisturising Gradual Tanning Lotion. This will prolong their tan and help skin look fresh and glowing.

WITCH HAZEL - Anti-oxident properties, helps shrink pores, soothes skin & protects from skin damage. ALOE VERA LEAF - Anti-ageing, moisturising, hydrating, plumping, antibacterial and soothing. GLYCERINE - Hydrating, skin protecting & skin healing. Treats and prevents dry skin and moisture loss. GREEN TEA EXTRACT - Anti-ageing, skin soothing and improves the appearance of damaged skin. VITAMIN A - Protects from UV damage, encourages healthy cell production, prevents infection, evens skin tone and boosts radiance.

PREVENT TANNING TREATMENT First Trimester of pregnancy. Skin diseases and disorders. Open cuts and wounds. MAY RESTRICT TREATMENT ECZEMA / PSORIASIS – ok, IF not open/weeping, use barrier cream. HRT & IVF - potentially menstrual cycle too. ACNE - can appear darker post tan & may be aggravated. DIABETIES – ok, IF following their recommended treatments and have no open cuts. ASTHMA - consult with your doctor prior to tan, but usually it is fine if it is under control with medication. ALLERGY TO DHA OR SENSITIVE SKIN – a patch test can be applied 24 hours prior to treatment.

BEFORE YOUR TANNING SESSION Wax, shave at least 24 hours before your session. Shower and exfoliate your body. Avoid heavy moisturising shower gels. Do not apply moisturisers, deodorants, oil based products, perfume or makeup. Wear loose dark clothing and open toe shoes, e. g. flip flops. Leave jewellery at home. Avoid silk, wool and leather garments as tan will not wash out of these materials.

THE SESSION You will be asked to undress to underwear or suitable swimwear to create the desired effect. It's your choice if you want to leave your bra on or off. If using underwear ensure it is black as tan does not wash out of elastic or lace. Barrier cream will be applied to hands, feet and heel areas and any other dry areas you may have such as knees or eczema patches. If you have nail extensions make sure the barrier cream covers those, natural nails will be fine. Your session will last around 15 minutes. You will be dry to dress straight after.

IMMEDIATE AFTERCARE Do not touch skin whilst tan is developing to avoid tanned fingers (not a good look!). Avoid water on skin whilst tan is developing, especially rain. (Yes that means you can't do the washing up, what a shame!). Avoid heavy exercise as perspiration can spoil the result. Shower between 6 -8 hours after treatment. Pat dry with towel. Do not rub.

LONG TERM AND HOMECARE ADVICE Moisturise morning and night with a non-oil based moisturiser as oil can strip your tan. Avoid swimming as the chlorine will strip the tan, as will saunas and steam rooms. Remember that the tan does not contain any SPF factor so you will still need to wear sun protection as usual. Ensure all tan is removed by exfoliation before your next spray tan treatment.
