4 Be full of joy in the Lord always. I will say again, be full of joy. 5 Let all men see that you are gentle and kind. The Lord is coming soon. 6 Do not worry about anything. But pray and ask God for everything you need. And when you pray, always give thanks. 7 And God’s peace will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. The peace that God gives is so great that we cannot understand it. 8 Brothers, continue to think about the things that are good and worthy of praise. Think about the things that are true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected. 9 And do what you learned and received from me. Do what I told you and what you saw me do. And the God who gives peace will be with you. (International Children’s Bible)

Who has a children’s bible? Let’s talk about and I’ll show you some of the different ones Church can give a bible to anyone who doesn’t have one, if you would like one You may have a bible but then what do you do with it?

Who has heard of bible reading notes? What are they? Make us think Children’s ones – you can get them for different ages. I’ll show you some and they are: They have: XTB Bit of the bible to read SNAP SHOTS Explanation of bible DISCOVER reading TABLE TALK Puzzles TOPZ We can get bible notes for anyone who doesn’t have any and would use them, if you would like them. They cost approx. £ 4 & last a few months, then you get some more Quizzes Prayer

Having a children’s bible is important so we can read it regularly, in a version that we understand. It’s good to read a bit each day. We can have some notes that explain the bible in a fun way – using them every day means we achieve reading a bit of the bible each day – the notes tells you which bit to read. Then we can pray How ?

Praying How do we pray on our own? Where do we pray? Pray anywhere – you don’t have to say it out loud or have your hands together or eyes closed –that’s not always possible - it just helps you concentrate Think about how do we pray in Sunday school, at church or at school? Here are some examples Dear God… or Dear Lord Jesus Thank you for… Sorry for… Please…. . or I’d just like to tell you…. (think tsp) Amen…. means the end of your prayer ‘The end’ or if in a group it means ‘I agree’

And that can be called having a quiet time – it’s a time to be quiet with God. If it’s not quiet then we get distracted…. Can you concentrate at school (remember those days of ‘real’ school!) if lots of people are talking and you’re trying to work? No! Same with God – you can’t concentrate and take in what you’re reading so that you understand it if it’s noisy around you and it’s the same with praying too. Jesus used to go and find a quiet place to pray
