What is “academic integrity” ? • Academic integrity is a set of ethical principles and statutory rules that should guide the participants in the educational process in order to ensure trust in learning outcomes and/or scientific (creative) achievements (Article 42 of the UL "On Education")

Observance of academic integrity by scientificpedagogical workers includes: • references to information sources in the use of ideas, developments, statements, information; • observance of the norms of the legislation on the copyright and related rights; • providing reliable information on the methods and results of research, sources of information used and own pedagogical (scientific-pedagogical, creative) activity; • control over observance of academic integrity by students; • objective assessment of learning outcomes.

Adherence to the academic integrity of the applicants of education implies: • independent fulfillment of educational tasks, tasks of current and final control of learning outcomes; • references to sources of information in the case of the use of ideas, developments, statements, information; • observance of the norms of the legislation on the copyright and related rights; • providing reliable information about the results of their own educational (scientific, creative) activities, used research methods and sources of information.

• On 23/10/2018, the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine issued the Recommendations on Academic Integrity for HEI, developed within the framework of the Academic Integrity Assistance Project in Ukraine - SAIUP with the support of the US Embassy.

Types of violations of academic integrity in accordance with the Law "On Education" (Article 42): • • Academic plagiarism Self-plagiarism Fabrication Falsification Write-off Fraud Bribery

Academic plagiarism should be distinguished from quotation errors which are: • link to another source; • incorrect link design, which makes it difficult to search for a reliable source; • absence of quotation marks when using text fragments borrowed from other sources in the presence of a valid reference to this source.

• Biased evaluation

Responsibility for scientific-pedagogical workers of education institutions • refusal to award a scientific degree or assignment of a scientific rank • deprivation of the awarded scientific (educationalcreative) degree or the awarded academic title • refusal to approve or deprive the awarded pedagogical title, qualification category • deprivation of the right to participate in the work of the bodies designated by law or to occupy the positions determined by law

Responsibility for education applicants • repeat the assessment (control work, exam, credit, etc. ) • repeat study of the educational component of the educational program • exclusion from the education institution (except for those who acquire general secondary education) • deprivation of academic scholarship • deprivation of tuition fees provided by the institution of education
