SUMMERHILL LEAVERS 2020.
SOON, YOU’LL BE ASKED TO CONTRIBUTE TO A Y 6 END OF SCHOOL VIDEO… WHY? Despite strange and unprecedented times, you have had an amazing final year at Summerhill Academy. It is important to reflect on your time at Summerhill before you make the transition to secondary school. To recognise the journey you have taken in the four years you have been at Summerhill Academy.
CONTENT: Shortly, you will need to write a detailed and personal response to the 4 categories:
FAVOURITE MEMORIES AT SUMMERHILL… Is there a particular moment at Summerhill you are fond of? This could be a particular year or event, such as Sports Day; a trip you have fond memories of; friendships you have made; teachers and staff… Examples of how to start: 1. As my time at Summerhill comes to an end, I want to share some of my most favourite memories. I remember when… 2. My teachers always said to cherish every year at primary school and I never really understood this until recently… 3. Memories are precious and we will always have them and hold on to them tightly. Here are some of my favourite memories with an explanation as to why…
Think back over the last four years. . . what will you miss? Did you take anything for granted? What about the relationships you have built? This is your time to share your feelings and perhaps to tell others how much you appreciate them. WHAT YOU’LL MISS… What about times you've enjoyed that will change as you move to secondary school. Will you miss friends or certain members of staff? The quirkiness of Mrs Mc. Leod's assemblies? If you are going to pay tribute to a specific teacher, what exactly will you miss? Is it their levels of care? How they never gave up on you and believed in your potential? How they made learning easier? How they made you laugh when you felt sad? Give examples.
WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FORWARD TO. . .
WHAT YOU’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO… Perhaps you’re looking forward to a new challenge or a particular lesson? Maybe you’re excited to meet new friends and teachers? Example of how to start: Although I’ve made some fond memories during my time at Summerhill, I know all good things must come to an end, as I embark on a new journey. There are so many things I look forward to: from being a little fish in a big pond once more, to learning new skills…
ACHIEVEMENTS. . . Focusing on your learning? Improving your skills? What have you accomplished in the last four years at school that has made you proud? Sporting tournaments? Fundraising for a charity? Gem certificate award? Online distance learning? Being nominated for Hot Chocolate Friday? Examples: Over the years, I have grown so much – not just taller and older, but with wisdom and maturity. There are many things I am proud of during my time at Summerhill Academy… Remember to explain in full detail. Make it personal. Make it a reflection. Be truthful. Be brave. Be proud!
