Summer term 2 Week 3 This week will revise all our learning from the year. ALL children should complete this powerpoint. Each lesson will begin with a quick arithmetic practise (for all colours). There are then questions relating to the topic of Fractions, Decimals and Percentages. There is a separate powerpoint with extra challenge questions (Blue). All answers can be found at the end of the powerpoint. Please refer to these to mark answers. Remember to also log into Times. Tables Rock Stars everyday and play a few games! 1
Arithmetic Practise Monday Tuesday 1)12 x 5 = 2) 9 x 8 = 3) 7 x 4 = 4) 11 x 6 = 5) 6 x 5 = 6) 9 x 3 = 7) 9 x 2 = 8) 3 x 4 x 2 = 9) 3 x 5 = 10) 4 x 2 x 1 = 1) 20 x 30 = 2) 40 x 40 = 3) 50 x 20 = 4) 80 x 30 = 5) 120 x 30 = 6) 70 x 40 = 7) 20 x 40 = 8) 110 x 30 = 9) 90 x 50 = 10) 80 x 80 = Wednesday 1) 102. 4 x 10 = 2) 37. 65 x 10 = 3) 1. 243 x 100 = 4) 46. 54 x 100 = 5) 3. 456 x 1000 = 6) 84. 54 x 1000 = 7) 37. 8 ÷ 10 = 8) 34. 54 ÷ 10 = 9) 925. 3 ÷ 100 = 10)24. 32 ÷ 100 = Thursday 1) 2637 + 7463 = 2) 4883 + 3728 = 3) 9487 + 1738 = 4) 9483 – 163 = 5) 8476 – 261 = 6) 7463 – 1673 = 7) 34. 5 + 26. 3 = 8) 65. 4 + 37. 2 = 9) 87. 43 – 45. 42 = 10) 56. 43 – 23. 5 = On Friday complete the maths test 2
Monday – Multiplying fractions by a whole number Recap Handy hint! (Multiply the numerator by the number and keep the denominator the same) 3
Answer these in your book: 7 2 Extra Challenge: Now change all of your answers into mixed fractions! 4
Tuesday – Converting decimals, fractions and percentages Recap Example: 0. 64 = 64% 100 Percentage Decimal Make sure it has 2 digits. (Remember 0. 2 is the same as 0. 20) Fraction (put the number over 100 – sometimes this can be simplified) 5
Complete the table in your book: Decimal 0. 52 0. 94 0. 2 Fraction ? /100 ? ? Percentage ? % ? ? 0. 32 ? ? 0. 25 0. 76 ? ? 0. 3 0. 5 ? 86/100 ? ? ? 84/100 ? ? ? ? 90% ? ? ? 75% ? ? Challenge: Simplify the fractions where possible! 6
Wednesday – Comparing and ordering fractions, decimals and percentages. Example: To make it easier to compare fractions, decimals and percentages, you can convert them so that they are all the same (eg all fractions, all decimals or all percentages) 56% 23 100 0. 7 56 100 23 100 70 100 Now I can clearly see that from smallest to biggest it would go: 23/100, 56%, 0. 7 7
Order these in your book from smallest to largest: 1) 0. 56 2) 23/100 3) 45/100 4) ½ 5) 45% 6) 34% 7) 60/100 8) 40/100 ½ 43% 25% 60% ¼ 1/10 ½ 43% 52% 0. 7 0. 56 0. 8 0. 6 0. 45 0. 32 0. 21 0. 23 0. 6 30/100 Extra Challenge: 1) 4/5 2) 6/10 3) 57% 0. 6 0. 4 0. 5 3/10 30% ½ 20% 2/5 ¾ 8
Thursday – Percentages of amounts Recap A percentage of an amount is very similar to finding a fraction of an amount. First we convert the percentage to a fraction. Eg. 50% is equal to ½ So to find 50% I must find a ½ So 50% of 40 = 20 If you have forgotten, use this conversion chart to help you 50% = ½ (so you divide by 2) 25% = ¼ (so you divide by 4) 10% = 1/10 (so you divide by 10) 1% = 1/100 ( so you divide by 100) 9
Answer these in your book: 1) 50% of 12 2) 50% of 48 3) 50% of 120 4) 50% of 680 5) 50% of 260 6) 25% of 44 7) 25% of 248 8) 25% of 36 9) 10% of 120 10) 10% of 360 11) 10% of 30 12) 1% of 400 13) 1% of 600 14) 1% of 1200 If you have forgotten, use this conversion chart to help you 50% = ½ (so you divide by 2) 25% = ¼ (so you divide by 4) 10% = 1/10 (so you divide by 10) 1% = 1/100 ( so you divide by 100) Optional Challenge questions: 1) 30% of 450 2) 20% of 320 3) 40% of 210 4) 60% of 800 5) 12% of 300 6) 23% of 500 7) 5% of 380 8) 7% of 340 10
Friday Complete the reasoning test (separate document) 11
