Comments from students • • • “I think living with the host family was the most positive aspect of my study abroad experience. Not only was it fun and interesting to interact with the family, but it was very educational and facilitated the experience of learning the language. ” “I have LOVED all of the excursions (Naples, Capri, Pompei, etc. )!! They have allowed me to learn a great deal about Italy's history and culture. Also, I really enjoy when I go shopping around town and talk to the shopkeepers in Italian. It helps keep up my day-to-day learning of the language and all of the shopkeepers are really patient and understand that I'm trying to learn their language. “Italian 208 I had to write journals and an essays about our excursions and experiences. I liked this because it made me learn a lot more than if I had just gone on the tour because I probably wouldn't have paid as much attention. ” “The major aspect that allowed me to be fully exposed in Italian culture is living with a local family of the country. I'd rather all programs form their living arrangements with local families instead of living in a hotel. ” What were the most negative aspects of your study abroad/domestic travel study experience? “leaving!!”
