Project Summary - ADL • Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) Initiative – Do. D contracted – Goal: Standardize development of e-learning environments and content – Sharable Content Object Reference Model (SCORM) standards – Conformance Test Suite (CTS) and Sample Run-Time Environment (RTE)
ADL Project Details • ADL Initiative – Launched by U. S. Do. D and White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) – Expansion of e-learning for government, academia, and industry – Mission: Provide access to the highest quality education and training, tailored to individual needs, delivered cost-effectively anytime and anywhere

What is SCORM? • Set of technical standards, specifications, and guidelines designed to meet requirements for learning content and systems • Seeks to bring together disparate groups and interests in the distributed learning community
Conformance Test Suite • Provides organizations with SCORM conformance testing software, procedures and documentation • Passing the SCORM CTS indicates a products’ conformance to SCORM
Sample Run-Time Environment • Acts as a sample Learning Management System to run against the Conformance Test Suite • Demonstration tool to show SCORM conformant content running in a SCORM environment

Project Summary - SDP • Systems Development Process – CTC internal project – Goal: Raise company-wide awareness and practice of quality standards – Provide access to these standards for all CTC projects and employees – Part of CTC Quality Management System
SDP Project Details • Systems Development Project – any project that produces requirements, design, or implementation of a hardware or software system or component • SDP Processes and Procedures – Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) standards – International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards
