Task 4 – Topic Design Technology- The law There is more to think about when designing food packaging. There are many things that have to be on food packaging as part of the law, such as nutritional information. In the following video on the link from previous slide, we hear about what labelling and essential information is on food packaging, what it tells us and how we can use this to make nutritional choices, and a bit about what the law is.

Task 4 – Topic Design Technology-Activity 1 Get an adult to help you find

Task 4 – Topic Design Technology-Activity 1 Get an adult to help you find paper-based food packaging from around your house, eg cereal, eggs and fruit juice. Outside of the legally required information, what design features are present? Do a review on the packaging. you could video yourself reviewing the product like a you-tuber or write down your review like a news reporter. You should consider: Shape - What shape is it? Is it holding lots of things and keeping them apart? Can they easily fall out? Opening - Does it need to open and close again, or not? If so, how does it do this? Colour - Does the colour help you know what the flavour will be? Pictures - How do the pictures or images used make you feel? Do they help you know what the packaging contains?

Task 4 – Topic Design Technology-Activity 2 Design your own packaging Choose your own

Task 4 – Topic Design Technology-Activity 2 Design your own packaging Choose your own favourite food or you could even design your own food. Design and create packaging for it. There are net shapes on the BBC bitesize website you can use if you want to make it 3 D. Remember to include the essential information Don’t forget to send in your designs. We would love to see how creative you have been.
