Grade 12 - Summative Assessment Task (30 Marks) Design a submarine for any one

Grade 12 - Summative Assessment Task (30 Marks) Design a submarine for any one of the following applications: • • • Science and Research Tourism Salvage Deepwater Work Military 1. 1 Analyse the given model using ACCESSFMM. Mark Section 1. 1 Analysis of the Given Model (ACCESSFMM) (a) Size / Shape 2 (b) Materials 2 (c) Fusion 360 Key skills 3 1. 2 Choosing Application / Reasoning 2 1. 3 Analysis of Brief 2 1. 4 Functions 3 Highlight key skills required to sketch given model in Fusion 360. 1. 2 State the chosen application with reasoning. Based on the chosen application 1. 3 Analyse the Brief – Aesthetics & Safety 1. 4 State the functions of the Submarine. The SA task sheet is guided from analysis of given model, brief, through final solution to an evaluation. Complete each of the sections as guided to ensure the best outcome possible. Summative Assessment - Term 1 2018 Assessment Development Unit - CDI (a) Sketch 5 (b) Annotation 5 1. 5 Final Solution 1. 5 Sketch the Final Solution & annotate it. 1. 6 Evaluate the Final Solution. Grade 12 - Summative Assessment Task Design Cycle – Design a submarine for one

Grade 12 - Summative Assessment Task Design Cycle – Design a submarine for one of the selected applications Tasks – Use the skills you have developed in Design Cycle tasks to help you analyse a given model & sketch a new final solution matching the project brief. 1. 1 Analyse the given model, referring to ACCESSFMM criteria and highlight key skills required to sketch it in Fusion 360. 1. 2 State the application (purpose) you chose for your product and who will use it. 1. 3 Analyse the design brief – describe the importance of AESTHETICS & SAFETY for this product. 1. 4 Answer the questions related to product function(s). 1. 5 Sketch and annotate a Final Solution based on the chosen application & write a detailed description using ACCESSFMM. 1. 6 Evaluate the Final Solution by describing TWO positive aspects, TWO negative aspects and ONE improvement that could be made. Tasks should be completed on the SA Task sheets created by ADU. The SA Task sheets need to be presented clearly and in a visually appealing way. Marking should closely follow the separate and detailed SA Task Rubric. Summative Assessment - Term 1 2018 Assessment Development Unit - CDI

Grade 12 - Summative Assessment Task Submarine Applications: Science and Research: Exploring the world's

Grade 12 - Summative Assessment Task Submarine Applications: Science and Research: Exploring the world's oceans for further research i. e. marine life, sea depth, minerals etc. Tourism: A multi person submarine which operates in tropical resort areas to view wildlife and undersea environments. Salvage: To locate and assist in reclaiming sunken ships & vessels. Deepwater Work: To work in water too deep or dangerous for divers i. e. for repairs to offshore petroleum platforms & telecommunication cables. Military: Operational defence use with the Navy and to carry out tasks such as protecting national maritime borders. Submarine & submersibles in use today When sketching the FINAL SOLUTION consider the function

Submarine & submersibles in use today When sketching the FINAL SOLUTION consider the function for your submarine. Look at the images on this slide to see how different purposes decide the shape and features of submarine design. Select the features needed & include those in your design solution. Think about size, features, materials & secondary uses. Summative Assessment - Term 1 2018 Assessment Development Unit - CDI
