Fruit of the Spirit o Love – the key word from our main text v 14 – Love your neighbor as yourself. o Joy – rejoicing over proper things; not over the misfortune of another o Peace – a state of harmony between individuals (and from this very chapter, a state of harmony based on that which is approved of by the Spirit)
Fruit of the Spirit o Longsuffering – slowness in avenging wrong o Kindness – gentleness exhibited without compromise of religious principles o Goodness – uprightness of heart and life; a life regulated by teaching coming from Christ
Fruit of the Spirit o Gentleness (meekness) – mildness in one’s attitude toward another; (strength under control) o Self-control – controls temper and attitude when dealing with others
“Punch line” o 24 And those who are Christ's have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. o Are you Christ’s? o Do I claim to belong to Him? o Crucified works of the flesh o Replace them with the fruit of the Spirit
