National 4 Question Source B is about the Suffragettes. The years before the war were a time of tension for the Suffragettes. Splits in the WSPU, caused by the Pankhursts expelling anyone who criticised their militant actions, weakened the movement. Some leading Suffragettes also claimed violence undermined their peaceful efforts. They were afraid they would not be seen as mature adults who could be trusted with the vote. However, peaceful methods like marches or petitions to Parliament had little effect. 2.
