GRBN is a democratic Network of associations, all of which have an equal role and an equal say. GRBN is not… χ a new association χ bureaucratic or hierarchical χ a fee generating body

GRBN Guiding Principles National associations are in the best position to represent, support and address changes in the legal environment on behalf of their members. 1. AUTONOMY 2. COLLABORATION 3. COMMON STANDARDS 4. RESPECT 5. DEVELOPMENT

Some of the challenges facing research and research associations… Need to understand individuals Empowered customers Need for more value from data Increasing demand for ROI ‘Truth’ in behavioural data Social media and real time data Growth in online Behavioural economics Need to respond more quickly Shrinking research budgets Staff turnover and complex businesses

…all across the GRBN associations are working on these issues. For example… ü ARIA associations leading on the development of new initiatives to measure the growth and predict the future development of the research sector ü EFAMRO leading on the development of more robust self-regulation to protect the sector from interference from regulators and to protect research freedoms ü APRC leading on development of GRBN information resources including the development of conferences, training and qualifications across the network
