2020 Progress on achievements The objective, to which this subprogramme contributes, is to advance the implementation of Agenda 2063 and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development within the Framework of PAIDA, the UN-AU Peace and Security, and the AU-UN Development Frameworks. Result Area 1: Implementation of joint workplans by RCM-Africa Clusters: working together to deliver for Africa Progress made to achieving the result area • Indicator of Achievement (Io. A-1)- Increased number of joint policies formulated jointly and implemented by the clusters • Baseline 2019 - 3/ Target 2020 - 5 / Actual 2020 at Q 2 -4 • Progress made in achieving results and indicate the deliverables that led to those results • Finalized the Joint Labour Migration Priority Project (JLMP) Priority communication strategy • Finalized a Study on Assessing the Status of Women’s Rights in Refugee and Internal Displacement • Produced the 2020 Africa Regional Overview of Food Security and Nutrition • Prepared the Beijing+25 Report for Africa • Supported January-April reporting on the implementation of the AU-UN Development Framework • Supported the organization and servicing of the 2020 ADS – theme: COVID-19 and Silencing the Guns in Africa: Challenges and Opportunities • Coordinated ECA contribution and participation in the 2020 UNMM report and related meeting • Preparations for a consultative meeting between ECA and AUDA-NEPAD to deliberate on strengthening their collaboration and modalities for such collaboration

A-2)- Increased no of capacity development initiatives Baseline 2019 - 5 Target 2020 - 7 / Actual 2020 at Q 2 -4 Progress made in achieving results and indicate the deliverables that led to those results The Executive-level Capacity Development Programme: Strengthening the use of Analysis and Planning to achieve SDGs 1 and 2 in Eastern Africa Harmonization of Agenda 2063 and 2030 Agenda performance indicator framework for the Malabo Declaration on Accelerated Agricultural Growth and Transformation for Shared prosperity and Improved Livelihoods Provision of strategic data on health and HIV entailing the establishment and follow-up of health situation rooms in nine countries Advocacy and engagements with member states to accede to the 2009 AU Convention on the Protection and Assistance of Internally Displaced Persons in Africa Subregional studies on the interlinkages between the development, peace and security, and human rights pillars

Status update: Key challenges and lessons learnt – RA 1&2 Lessons learnt Key challenges • Uncertainty surrounding the UN reforms in relation to the abolishment of RCM-Africa and the establishment of RCP. Smooth transition from RCM-RCP would have been beneficial for programme delivery. • There was a need to ensure the continuation of the activities of RCM-Africa pending the establishment of the RCP, in much the same way that the R-UNSDG platforms continue to be operational. • Inadequate financial resources • Budgetary requirements to PPBD in NY
