Subjects and Verbs l The subject of a sentence tells us who is doing the action. l The verb tells us what action is taking place in the sentence.

Subject Pronouns l Subject pronouns are used to discuss people. l A subject pronoun tells who is the subject of the sentence. l Subject pronouns can replace names when talking.

These are the Subject Prounouns in Spanish l Yo- I l Tú- You Familiar Usted- You Formal l Él- He l Ella- She l One Specific name. Juan l Nosotros- We l Nosotras- We (girls) l Ustedes- You all l Ellos- They l Ellas- They (girls) l 2 or more names(Juan y Miguel) l

Tú- You FAMILIAR You use tú when talking to friends or people who you are on a FIRST NAME basis with. l You use tú when you talk to each other, your friends or casual people. l

Usted- you FORMAL You use USTED when talking to people who you are on a last name basis. l The president, doctors, teachers, adults, etc… l

Usted and Ustedes l Usted refers to only one person. l Usted is abbreviated as Ud. l Ustedes refers to more than one person. Can be a formal and informal person. l Ustedes is abbreviated as Uds.
