Date: 4/5/20 Lesson Objective: We are practising using and applying the split digraph ‘i-e’ Activity: Recap all sounds in your phonics folder- make it a ‘quick’ recall! Practise reading the red warning words on Task 1 sheet. Can you put any of these words into a sentence? Explain we are thinking about the split digraph ‘i-e – nice smile’. Remind children that a split digraph is a digraph that has to be split up because it is so cheeky. We split up the digraph by putting another sound in the middle. • Look at ‘i-e Power. Point’ to practise decoding words using the ‘i-e’ sound. • Practice decoding words with the ‘i-e’ sound on Task 1. Remember to put in your sound buttons. The first 2 words have already been done to remind you. • Play ‘Buried Treasure’ sorting real and nonsense words.
