Date: 18/5/20 Lesson Objective: We are practising using and applying the grapheme ‘ow’. Activity: • Recap all sounds in your phonics folder- make it a ‘quick’ recall! • Practise reading the red warning words on Task 1 sheet. • Can you put any of these words into a sentence? • Explain we are thinking about the digraph ‘ow – brown cow’. What letters do we find in this sound? (letter names). What other sounds make the same sound? • Practice decoding for reading the real and alien words that all include the ‘ow’ sound in Task 1. Please use your decoding toolkit to do this! Can you think of any words of your own that include this sound? • Play ‘Buried Treasure’ sorting real and nonsense words. Choose 2 colours and colour in all the real words in one colour and all the nonsense words in another colour. • Children to write 4 words that include the ‘ie’ sound.
