Activity: Read ‘Planning an Adventure Story Power. Point’. *Note – your setting doesn’t have to be fantastical! Today you are going to plan the basic structure of your story based upon the video we watched (about the swimming Iguana). You should have plenty of research and ideas from the previous weeks to now put this into a story plan. There are 2 types of story plan templates on the class website, choose and complete which style works best for you. They will help you structure your story when it comes to writing it. Things to consider: • Your villain doesn’t have to be a person – it could be a concept e. g. pollution. • Your hero doesn’t have to be the iguana, maybe your story is about the sailor who rescued him? OR
Date: 18. 06. 2020 - Don’t worry if this takes you 2 lessons! Lesson Objective: To plan an adventure in more detail Activity: You have your characters back story from last week and should have an idea already of where your story is going to take you from your basic plan yesterday. Most adventure stories need a quest or a mission for the main character to embark on. Watch https: //www. bbc. co. uk/bitesize/topics/zx 339 j 6/articles/zgthrwx Think about what the problem is that your character needs to overcome? What does he need to do/where does he need to go to solve the problem? Complete the ‘Adventure Planning Sheet’ with detailed notes, to help you when it comes to writing the story. The more detail you begin to add here, the easier it will be when it comes to writing your story.
Date: 19. 06. 2020 Lesson Objective: To create an adventure story toolkit Activity: (You may need to use this lesson as an opportunity to finish off any story planning before we start writing on Monday). If you have finished all your planning, today you can build your toolkit for successful writing. Consider what - as teachers - we would be looking for in your writing, (SPAG, sentence types, tense etc. ), as well as the items needed to make a successful adventure story. *On the following slides are a basic example of a toolkit which needs improving, reminders of different sentence types we have worked on previously and a final toolkit ready to use, if you don’t get around to making your own!
This is an example of a basic toolkit, use it to help you build your own toolkit – thing about the things we have looked at over the last couple of weeks and things we would normally discuss in school too…
This toolkit has been made by us, the children will be very used to this format. If you do not have time to make your own toolkit due to finishing off story planning, please download this one from the class page. - If your child wants to make any changes to make it their own, they can do that too!
We always love seeing your work, so please send us some in if you want to show us!
