Diabetes is a big problem in the United States. If we do not address this problem, then more people will continue to get sick and cost our society a lot of money. Diabetes is a big problem in the United States. If we do not address this problem, then more people will continue to get sick and cost our society a lot of money. Currently, there are not enough educational materials for people with diabetes. We propose to create some of those materials to help people with diabetes. It has been projected that one in three individuals will develop type 2 diabetes by 2050 (source). Given that the cost of diabetes in the U. S. in 2012 was reported to be $245 billion (source), the U. S. health care system will be unable to afford the costs of care unless incidence rates and diabetes-related complications are reduced. Diabetes self-management education materials offer an opportunity to decrease these costs. Such materials have been shown to be cost-effective by reducing hospital admissions and readmissions (source), as well as estimated lifetime health care costs related to a lower risk for complications (source). Some organizations in Newport News already offer diabetes health-care classes (source). However, some of these classes are either not taught in plain language, or are not easily accessible to everyone. Thus, we propose to provide easily understandable diabetes educational materials on a public website in order to help spread this information to those who need it: people with diabetes and their families and caregivers. * *adapted from: https: //www. professional. diabetes. org/diabetes-self-management-education

Common Terms Example—Strong Intro Meaningful consent is rare on today’s internet. Usually, users are neither informed nor in possession of good reasons for trust. Yet we repeatedly consent to unfavorable terms, especially in the privacy domain. We feel like we have no real alternative, and no real influence over online terms of service. We’re usually in a hurry and prefer to avoid consenting to anything, if possible. But when there’s no way forward but through consent, we keep our fingers crossed, tick the box and hope for the best. This is the “biggest lie” on the internet (“yes I have read and agree to the terms”). (http: //www. commonterms. net/conclusions/). (To continue in a proposal, Common. Terms might include some statistics from Willerton, p. 127 and a bulleted list of reasons why the ”biggest lie” hurts users, like the on Willerton, p. 128)
