Registration for courses • Registration for courses needs to be done in Web. Oodi.

Registration for courses • Registration for courses needs to be done in Web. Oodi. • Registration begins at least 28 days before the start of the teaching period and closes 7 days after the teaching period begins, or in some cases, 7 days before the teaching period begins (specified in the course details). • It is recommended that if student is unable to attend the course they have registered for, the registration should be cancelled via Web. Oodi’s My Studies/Registration page during the registration period by clicking the remove registration button. If student wishes to cancel the course registration after the registration period, student must contact the teacher of the course. 23. 11. 2020 9

Registration for exams • The first exam included in the course is called the course exam (KT). Registering for a course is at the same time registration for interim tests and for the course exam. You do not need to register separately for the course exam. • For all other exams, including eg. make-up exams, you do need to register no later than 7 days beforehand via Web. Oodi. • Registration for exams typically opens no later than 60 days before the exam dates. • The course evaluation must be given within 4 weeks. • More information about Aalto’s examination guidelines (link) in Aalto University. 23. 11. 2020 10

Credit system and work load • 1 Aalto University credit = 1 ECTS = 27 hours. This includes contact hours (lectures, excercises), and also assignments and homework. • The average number of hours required in one academic year of studies, 1 600 hours, corresponds to 60 credits. • BSc degree = 180 credits, 3 years • MSc degree = 120 credits, 2 years • Full time study load is 30 cr per semester and 60 cr per academic year. 23. 11. 2020 12
