Encourage students to: • Student Wellbeing Services • • Do what works well in managing their own wellbeing Consider healthy options for both your body and mind Consider your lifestyle choices Help them to build lifelong solution focused self help skills Develop self-reliance and autonomy Build resilience and seek the most appropriate support Raise concerns about another student Online registration via Student Wellbeing website Wellbeing Practitioners Counsellors; Mental Health Specialists; Specialist MH Mentors Doesn’t duplicate or replace statutory provision
Student Wellbeing Service What we do 1. Deliver a range of Wellbeing & Mental Health resources, electronically and through 1: 2: 1 specialist advice from one of our practitioners. 2. Deliver student training through Powerpoint Presentations 3. Offer assessment of need and risk through our online triage form 4. Offer short term specialist support for academic related issues 5. Sign posting to appropriate support – either internal University Services or external services 6. Liaise with NHS services, make appropriate referral to MH services 7. Advise Staff supporting students, consultation & training 8. Manage Fitness To Attend (FTA) or Fitness to Return (FTR)
We offer evidenced based information, useful web links and apps on managing University Life, Wellbeing and Mental Health issues, through our webpages and through Aberskills (Soon) Electronic Resources Student also have 24/7 access to the Big White Wall
Wellbeing presentations Also delivers a range of evidenced based Power Point presentations that you can attend to help strengthen your skills in managing your wellbeing: • Anxiety & Panic • Low Mood and Depression • Lifestyle at uni • Friendships at Uni • Manage change well • Mindful mood boost • Regulating emotions • Less Stress – Exam prep They are run regularly mainly on Wednesday afternoons. Please see the Wellbeing webpage for further details on each presentation and how you can attend
1: 2: 1 Help and Support: Counselling – short term (about six sessions per academic year), university related issues Practitioner Led support Mental Health Support– support to students with presenting and diagnosed mental health issues, onward referral & signposting, liaison with external agencies Mental Health Mentoring – regular mentoring support to students accessing DSA (Disabled Student Allowance)
Raising concern form Raising concerns about a student form, is where anyone can raise concerns about an Aberystwyth University student It can be found on the wellbeing website
